TRANSPORTATION
Air:
The two passenger airports are both easy
to get to on public transportation. Midway airport is small and quick to
navigate and the home of budget airlines like Southwest. O'Hare Airport is
the busiest (& craziest?) airport in the world and home of the big airlines
like United and American.

Bus & Train
Chicago is also a major Amtrak and
Greyhound hub and the #60 bus provides easy door-to-door access to and from both stations
for the VS house (see following section).
Public Transportation
City buses and trains generally cost $1.50 and specific
information and directions to anywhere in the city can be obtained by calling
the Chicago Transit Authority at (312) 836-7000. They will also send you
transit maps if you request them.
From O'Hare to the VS house, take the "B"
(Douglas) subway to the 18th Street stop (a 50 minute ride) and walk 3.5 long
blocks east to Loomis and 3.5 short blocks south to house number 2011.
From Midway, take the
midway "El" train to the Ashland station and exit. Take the Ashland bus north to Cullerton
and walk east two blocks and make a right turn on Loomis to house number 2011.
From the Greyhound
station or from Union Station (Amtrak) walk across the street and pick up the 60
(Blue Island St.) bus going west to Cullerton Street. (15 min). Exit the bus,
walk east one block and make a right turn on Loomis to house number 2011. The 60 bus is also an excellent way to reach:
- Navy Pier and the Chicago Children's Museum
- the Chicago Art Institute
- the Chicago Cultural Center
- Harold Washington Library
- the Magnificent Mile (Michigan Ave.)
- the Sears Tower
- many downtown theaters, restaurants and shops

Bicycling
Bicycling is an excellent way to get
around the neighborhood or go downtown or indeed go anywhere in the
city. It is faster than the bus, and often faster than driving, because of the
ease of parking. Contact Jonathan Andreas, or Juji Woodrow for safety
and route suggestions or check into the Chicago Bicycle Federation.
