Trophy Room
This is a new idea that I had one day. I figure that we ought to start handing out trophies for the top performers every week, and for the entire season, as a whole. I will even possibly extend this retroactively to last season. The first decision to make is, what sort of awards will be offered? I see it like this - we want a number of awards that will allow everyone to collect a couple over the course of the season, but few enough that it is at least a little bit coveted. To that end, here are my trophies:
Barn Burner Award - award going to the starting player or defense who scores the most points in a week.
Heldt Trophy - award going to the starting player or defense who scores the least points in a week.
The Cup - I hesitated in naming this award, since it is important enough that we ought to sort of collaborate on it. This is the award going to the coach who scores the most points in a season, our version of the Stanley Cup.
MVP Award - Award going to the starting player or defense who scores the most points in a season. Just like The Cup, I hesitated in giving this award a proper name, because we ought to think of a really nice one.
Goat Award - Most points scored by a benched player.
Sofars - Awards going to the starting player or team that has scored the most points at that position halfway through the season.
