12/29/2001 - Once month ago, I became immersed in final projects, finals, and a serious drug problem. But I have emerged victorious, and I have finally gotten back to my roots, where it all started, the Barn League 2001 webpage. Everything has been updated completely. No stone has been left untuirned in my effort to provide you, the league members and of course, the fans, a wonderful website full of fresh content. So, enjoy... I think you will be pleased to know that there have been virtually no lead changes. Captain Voyles is still steering his ship to victory... And I'm still lingering in last place... But the gaps are closing between people, and the fight for third could go into the final week of the season... That's right, the battle for NO money.
11/29/2001 - We've sort of hit that lull in the season, where we are all paying attention to the games, but no one is really quite as pumped as we were at the outset. Obviously, I am not immune to that - but I have managed to put together some more website content, like the standings, and whatnot. So, enjoy - Voyles is running away with the season, Damin, you better get on that shit. And Rich, I've got you in my sights...
11/18/2001 - Well, I'm running a little behind, I realize this, but school has been a BITCH. I just put up the points for this week, but I haven't done the trophies, but they will be done a little bit later. I just wanted stuff up from last week before the games for this week start, just because there is not excuse for not getting that mundane little duty taken care of. Anyone get the transactions? Mueller, I'm sorry, I didn't formally take care of transactions, and I apologize... In any case, have a good week, people, talk to you later...
11/9/2001 - Scoring, at last, has been finalized. No major changes, it still looks like a horserace at the top, in the middle, pretty much everywhere but the bottom, which is occupied solely by yours truly. But believe me, that is all going to change, check out this week's transactions.
11/6/2001 - Holy cow! Well, I sure hope that everyone appreciates the bevy of content that is delivered upon the reception of this news! The week is over, the scores will be finalized this week, but all signs points to Mr. Aaron Voyles to be the victorious coach this week. After a last-minute trade at the zero hour, Stephen Davis was sent to Zen from the Como Neighborhood Davinci in exchange for the very underplayed Pittsburgh Steelers Defense. Miraculously, this wound up being the move that won him the week. A pack of wild Elephant Sacks are still nipping at his heels, and though the battle may have been lost for him by a handful of points, the war is far from over. In other news, I've updated the trophy page with a special new midseason feature. The regular old trophies have also been handed out. One note - I am trying to establish accurate rosters for everyone, so please look over the transactions section and make sure that every transaction you have made is there. The rosters are fucked, I realize this. Whatever. Enjoy.
11/1/2001 - Welly welly well well... Everyone had quite the average week, with the exception of yours truly. In a tight horserace, the week's winner turned out to be Crandall, powered by the immaculate award-winning performance of Corey Dillon. Aside from Voyles and Damin contending at the top, the battle for the middle is quite a race. And then of course, yours truly there at the bottom. From the fan perspective, this is quite a season. That means something - despite the fact that I am the closest thing to a fan that we've got. Congratulations, Rich Crandall... See you all next week...
10/26/2001 - Hah! I won by a mere seventy points! I've updated everything to reflect the finalized scoring, and I have even taken the time to update the rosters to make them current. At least, as of last week, since I haven't gotten the transactions from my partner in crime Mark Mueller. Shit, a game has already been played! I've scored the game, so please tell me your starters from the game (whoever has Edgerrin or Green, fess up). I'll see you all next week...
10/22/2001 - Well, what a ho-hum week that was. My preliminary estimates point to John Borchert as the winner, edging out the rest of the crew by a mere ten points. Official scoring might change that, though, so we will see. Epsky's "candidate" for the Barn Burner bore fruit, and that is pretty much the story of the weekend. Trophies have been handed out, and scoring has been finished (not finalized), so take a look around... By the way, I know that the current rosters are incorrect on everyone's page, I just haven't taken the time to take care of it.
10/21/2001 - A low scoring affair this week, as there were many upsets, including one which impacted all of us significantly. Except for maybe Voyles. In any case, the games have been scored, except for the forthcoming Monday Night game. Enjoy...
10/18/2001 - Well, the scores have been finalized, and not a whole lot has changed. However, we do seem to be having some trouble deciding whether or not certain touchdowns are scorable. For instance, if team A is punting, and team B fumbles, and subsequently recovers the ball, and then scores, is that a defensive touchdown? Common sense seems to say no, the bulk of the defense is off the field, and therefore it doesn't count as a defensive touchdown. What about a garden-variety blocked punt returned for a touchdown? The bulk of the defense is ON the field in that scenario. But there still seems to be some confusion. So, in order to completely remove any doubt, I have fashioned a little questionaire. Please send email, or else throw something up on the message board, responding to this little query. This is just to make the little pseudo-arguments Mark and I have on a weekly basis a little bit easier to resolve, rather than both of us throwing our hands up. Happy day, everyone... By the way, the result of this little poll will be posted under the heretofore unused "Rules" section.
10/16/2001 - The games are played, and I came in a little under expectations, but I can take solace in the fact that no one came in more under their expectations than MJ, who dropped like a stone from third to fifth, and within striking distance of yours truly. That was one helluva sentence. I'm writing like Dickens lately. The big winner? Papa V showed that he is undaunted, that no one is really in a position to fuck with him. Suddenly he's got two of the most valuable QBs in the game. All the stuff is primarily done, except for finalizing the points, and the trophies are handed out and whatnot. I'm so on top of things I am going to work on the rest of the site, as well.
10/13/2001 - Sorry about the "outage", but somewhere along the line, my website got completely FUCKED. But, I think that things have been adequately repaired, so we can all enjoy the wonder and majesty of the Barn League Website. Trophies have been dispersed! And I had the honor ot taking home two of them, both of them negative. So, hurray for me. I would encourage you all to submit your starting lineup as soon as you can.
10/11/2001 - I have about ten midterms today, so I wasn't able to do much, like hand out trophies, but when I am done, that will all be taken care of. In the mean time, here are the results... We've got ourselves a lead change, ladies and gentlemen... Big V has taken his place at the top of the heap with a stellar weekend.
10/9/2001 - Well, somehow I wound up not getting any starters from anyone except Rich, but not a big deal. Scoring is done, but not finalized, and the results are posted. Obviously, totals are not prepared due to the lack of starters, but everything else aside from the trophies is done. Back on track this week, at least so far... To anyone out there, if you see a number that is wrong for someone you started, email me with the info, and I will take care of it. Looks like Rich or Boylo might have walked away with it this week, upon the stellar performance of his Rams and everyone on Aaron's team. While I myself am basking in my own incompetence. Oh well.
10/6/2001 - Well, a lot of progress has been made! The scoring has been more or less finalized, and the results have been posted. Damin still running the show, and everyone else still right behind him, for the most part. Even I'm only a thousand back... Trophies have been handed out, transactions have almost been completed, points are posted, everything is where it should be, and I feel a lot more in control of my shit as a result. So, enjoy, all, hopefully this will keep everyone tuned in for a little while longer... Oh, one thing - at the request of Aaron Voyles, I would like to appeal to everyone to get their starters in as soon as possible so they can be all posted by gametime. This doesn't mean have them in by Saturday or anything, but it would be kind of neat if we could have it all posted up by the time the games start. Just a thought.
10/5/2001 - Yikes! A little bit of a hiatus there, and I have to apologize, I am in my last semester here (hopefully) and things got a little rough this week. But, the I have emerged from the trials, and I am stronger for it and whatnot, and now I can get down to the business of scoring. I had the scoring done early in the week, but I didn't have everyone's starters, and that was simply enough reason for me not to put everything up on the web. But not anymore. Scoring, regretably, has NOT been finalized, but I assume that we will finalize it today (Mark, if you are watching, I got your phone call, and we can take care of business tonight). Enough of that. Props to whoever won this week, but since I don't have a list of starters, I don't know who that is. I know I suck. I know that Damin sucked. Other than that, I don't know much. I'm posting everything that I have though. TRANSACTIONS WILL TAKE PLACE TONIGHT. So be ready. Remember, I go first, 'cause I suck most...
9/27/2001 - Well, aside from a couple of little missteps, the scoring was good, and has been finalized. Also, as you may have noticed, there is a new, slightly more attractive feel to the webpage, though I really can't claim that it is as good as I wanted it to be. I figured I would dink around with blends and get rid of those solid blocky graphics. Incidentally, comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated... Transactions have been made! Damin, though he is in first place, is definitely not resting on his laurels - he made no less than three moves yesterday, paving the way for another first-place season, to be sure (quack)...
9/26/2001 - Scoring has been done, and I did all of the scoring using the official NFL scorecards on the NFL website. So, the only problems should originate from my own personal mistakes. Mr. Wellensteain, upon the shoulders of Peyton Manning, is now riding high in first place... Congratulations to him. He will receive the very first Barn Burner Award, an award going to the coach who started the player who scored the most points. Get that? If not, check out the new trophy page. There are some other tidbits in there, tell me what you think about all of it. Gay, you might say? Possibly...
9/18/2001 - Well, it's been a week since I touched this page, for a variety of reasons. It seems that the ill-fortune of our country has precipitated a week off for fantasy football players everywhere. But it's time to get back in the groove. I redid the points completely, because it was just chaos. Now, Mark and my numbers are much the same, and the scoring is basically finalized. Embarrassingly enough, I was not only wrong about everyone's score, I was even erroneously calling Damin the big winner. Ah, but no... Mr. Voyles has come to play this season, folks, and he's in first place... Check out the standings...
9/11/2001 - Holy Fucking Shit. I'm trying to ignore this absolutely horrendous day by working on my webpage. I tried to add a little "guest book" or whatever, but we can use it as a message board. So, everyone, feel free to post or view the message board.
9/11/2001 - Well, after Monday Night, things don't look that much different. My numbers still show Damin Wellenstein edging out the rest in the battle for first place - the new numbers (defensive scoring was re-done, as well as kicker scoring). What a weekend. Everyone is encouraged to send MEDIA.
9/10/2001 - The morning after the storm, and all is calm. Well, the bulk of a weekend of fantasy football is behind us, and most of the numbers have been tallied. Who's out in front? Well, preliminary estimates points to Damin Wellenstein, the incumbent pimpdaddy. But I guess we'll see. So, the initial numbers have been posted. If there is a mistake, tell me, and I will fix it... And hey, send me MEDIA. The first weekend is over and no one has sent me shit. Boyles doesn't even have a team name. Come on, people, get it together!
9/8/2001 - Night before kickoff, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, except a commissioner who couldn't manage to keep his mind on anything except fantasy football... I put up the pictures from the draft here... Additionally, I put my new logo up on the website. I can't wait until tomorrow. Everything is primed, people. Just get those lineups in.
9/7/2001 - Getting closer and closer now... I'm starting to get a little ancy. I just want this thing to get going! Well, because I am so ancy, I have been forced to spend a lot of time on this webpage. So, there are a couple of new things. Changed a couple of the graphics around, made links back to the home page from all of the subpages. Also, to your right, you will notice a little box with trade offers. I myself am looking to pick up a top-notch WR for Rich Gannon, and I will accept any reasonable offers. I encourage you all to send in trade offers, and I will go ahead and post them here. If not, it will wither and die. Oh well. I would like to again call for MEDIA. Send me graphics. Give me stories to post on your page. Anything. I'm desperate. And I won't be desperate to put up content later in the season, mark my words.
9/4/2001 - Well, a lot of STRANGE things can happen to a football league in a matter of four days. To those who didn't make it to the draft (Luke Heldt), Mark Mueller has not only re-entered the league, but he has also become a commissioner again. In weirder news, Luke Heldt didn't show up to the draft; the league decided to re-schedule for Thursday when I wouldn't be able to be there; and then they saw the light and just started to draft. So, six man league. A bit disappointing, but really, the strength of the league was at stake on Monday night, and it was just time to law down the law. Now its time to play some fantasy football. All apologies to Luke Heldt if he is dead in a ditch somewhere, or sustained near-fatal injuries as a result of being hit by a drunk driver on the way to the draft or something. Otherwise, onward! The picks have been made and the picks have been posted (here). Even tighter, I got around to throwing up the pages for each individual. Contribute content to these pages! It'll just be tight...
8/31/2001 - Mysterious news from Barn League. A coup has taken place. Mark Mueller, Barn League coach, removed himself as commissioner, and subsequently removed himself from the league altogether. This only means two things, however - it means that I am now your sole God, and you must now all fall on your knees before me and worship me. Additionally, STARTING LINEUPS MUST COME TO ME. If I'm not available by phone, leave a message, and it will all be legal. Of course, email is the BEST method for turning in your lineup, so if you don't have internet, get wise.. Also, THE DRAFT IS AT THE BARN ON MONDAY NIGHT. Be there, or join Mark in Barn League purgatory. Unless Mark regains his sanity and joins us once more, MARKS PICKS HAVE EVAPORATED. They are simply no longer there. An updated draft ordering has been posted. Questions or comments? There is now a nice little contact box to the left of this text... 8/27/2001 - The lottery has taken place! The order is determined! Even a few trades went down. The results of this miraculous occurrence can be found here. Trades are not only encouraged, they are rewarded with nut-slaps and kisses on the mouth. Mark Mueller will administer both of these. Oh, and I will also gladly post trade offers on people's respective pages, just email me. Additionally, if you would like a logo to accompany all references to your team, just give me the logo (you can draw it, find one online, whatever) and I will insert it into the webpage. If everyone did one, that would just be awesome... I plan on doing one, so don't lag behind, folks, you don't want an ugly homepage...
8/20/2001 - A meeting has been held, a meeting that I was unable to attend due to the pressing matter of moving my worldy belongings into my new home. In any case, we have decided to go with the same scoring system that we used before, and the same people in the league as before. Mark Mueller and I (John Borchert) will again humbly preside over the league, and collect lineups from people, and do the points and all that fun stuff. Presumably. A lottery will be held on Saturday, August 25th to determine the draft order, so be there. Additionally, trading of lottery picks will be allowed.
