The Cybermats were small robotic devices used by the Cybermen for intelligence gathering, guard duty, and subterfuge. Though looking like cute toys, the Cybermats could be quite deadly. Often they were equipped with poisons or disease in order to incapacitate their victims. The Cybermen could also use them to relay commands to humans under mind control. Several different makes of Cybermats were seem throughout the stories.
