To add insult to the injuries suffered , six of the protestors were arrested in the days leading up to the 1997 APEC leaders summit and forced to sign the following document:
"I will not participate or be found in attendance at any public demonstration or rally that has gathered together for the sole purpose of demonstrating against the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation or any nation participating in the so-named conference."
This is a direct violation of Rights guaranteed under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms! But, the global gestapo, in an effort to further its trade interests seems to be capable of almost anything. Even the RCMP itself later agreed that it was wrong for them to ask people to turn over their constitutional rights in exchange for freedom.

What happened at the APEC summit happened again in Seattle almost to the letter. Protestors were beaten and sprayed for sitting in an aggressive manner. Protest boundaries were set well back of the trade talks; So far back as to make them insignificant. The rights of individuals who stood in the way of "global trade'" were once again trampled on, as were the people themselves for that matter!
It was another disgusting display of elitist bureaucrats beating down any opposition to their plans. But more than that. It was an attack on freedom.
