Beautiful Jamaica ChildrenJamaican Culture & Heritage is as rich and diverse as its physical features. Although much more is know of the island since its 'discovery' in 1494 by Christopher Columbus, the island had a remarkable pre-history.

The Arawaks (or Taino People) were the original inhabitants, but unfortunately, these peace-loving Indians were wiped out either by disease or decree. After the Europeans decimated the Arawaks, they resorted to the 'importation' of Black slaves from West Africa.

No doubt, this has imprinted in Jamaican Society, its colorful African heritage. The Jamaican motto is 'Out Of Many One People' and it is truly one of model multi-ethnic societies where all races live in relative harmony.
