To make the Top 10 in 2005 is an impressive feat by all accounts.  It seems as though hitting #1 was a requirement to make it in at #9 or better (#10 managed to make it without ever hitting #1 or even the Top 5), and consistent and heavy chart success was also a major qualification for these songs.  It is one impressive bunch of singles.
5. Panic Prone by Chevelle
Chevelle has consistently been one of the Top 25's top artists.  Every single to have crossed the path of the Top 25 for Chevelle has hit #1, and Panic Prone is no exception.  In fact, Panic Prone was the fourth single for Chevelle to hit #1 on the Top 25, a chart record.  The single debuted on the Top 25 on July 7 at #18.  The song quickly rose to the top, taking over #1 in just it's sixth week on the chart, and staying there for three weeks.  In all, Panic Prone would spend 19 weeks on the Top 25.  this song was definitely a track worthy of recognition in 2005, but, believe it or not, it is not Chevelle's only appearance on the Top 50, nor is it their highest.  Yes, this is just the first of two Chevelle singles in the Top 5 for 2005.  That is arguably the most impressive feat accomplished on this year's chart.

4. Who I Am Hates Who I've Been by Relient K
Relient K had a big year in the mainstream realm in 2005.  TRL appearances, heavy play on MTV, VH1 and mainstream radio nationwide, and a gold record to show for it.  The second single from Mmhmm also became one of the best 2005 had to offer in the singles realm.  Who I Am Hates Who I've Been is arguably the best track on Mmhmm, and it had a solid run on the Top 25 because of that.  The single debuted at #13 on June 23.  It would spend a total of 20 weeks on the Top 25, and that includes one week at #1 (As well as six weeks hanging around in the Top 3).  It was so successful that the acoustic mix of the song also made it on to the Top 25 late in the year for a couple of weeks.  Who I Am Hates Who I've Been was definitely one of 2005's top tracks, and it would be no surprise to see Relient K continue this success in the coming years.

3. Lot Of Leavin' Left To Do by Dierks Bentley
Dierks Bentley appears yet again the Top 50.  Lot Of Leavin' Left To Do was the lead single to the highly anticipated follow-up to Dierks' debut disc, and it did not let fans down at all.  The single debuted on the Top 25 at #13 on January 20.  It would spend 21 weeks on the Top 25, and, though it spent only one week in the top spot, it spent a total of 16 weeks in the Top 5, which is definitely an impressive streak.  It was these 16 weeks that made Lot Of Leavin' Left To Do a Top 5 song in 2005 (And the top song at the midpoint of 2005).  The success of both this single and Top 10 hit Come A Little Closer have solidified Dierks as one of the major forces on the Top 25, and will likely help Dierks' singles in 2006.

2. The Clincher by Chevelle
Chevelle.  Again.  In the Top 5.  It's almost unimaginable that an artist would have two singles chart in one year and have both make it into the Top 5 at the end of the year.  And yet, here is Chevelle, with a hit song at #5 and now a hit song at #2.  The Clincher is one of Chevelle's best tracks in their career, which is saying quite a bit.  The intro to the song is absolutely chilling, the music is impressive throughout, and the lyrics and the vocals are just...excellent.  It took two separate chart records to keep this single from being the #1 song of 2005.  The Clincher debuted on the Top 25 on January 6 at #14.  The single wasted little time, making it into the Top five in just three weeks.  And it would spend a lot of time in the Top 5, including five weeks at #1.  In all, The Clincher spent 18 weeks on the Top 25, and continued to do well after it left the Top 25 (Spending almost the entire year in the Top 50).  Chevelle has definitely been one of the Top 25's top acts and looks as though they will continue to be for a long time.
