| A track that hits #1 on the Top 25 is bound to be one of 2005's best. But, as can be seen in the lower half of the Top 50, a #1 track does not gurantee an artist a spot at the top, or even a spot in the Top 10. In fact, aside from three singles, every track in the Top 20 hit #1 at some point in 2005. The competition is heating up quite quickly. | |||||||||||||

| 20. Dirty Little Secret by The All-American Rejects There were a lot of bands that made 2005 their breakout year. The All-American Rejects made 2005 their second coming. After massive success in 2002 with their single Swing, Swing, the AAR guys seemed to have fallen off the face of the earth. However, they returned in 2005. And the lead single from their disc Move Along lit up charts nationwide, including this Top 25. Dirty Little Secret debuted in the Top 25 on June 2 at #14. The track would eventually hit #1 and spend a total of 15 weeks on the Top 25. Dirty Little Secret was anything but a secret in 2005, but there was absolutely no problem with this dirty little thing finding such popularity. 19. Tonight by Sara Evans It seems so long ago that Sara Evans' last single from her disc, Restless, was making waves on the Top 25. But, though Tonight actually debuted in 2004 (November 25, 2004 at #7, to be exact), it was in 2005 that the single made it's impact. Sara was one of 2005's first artists to reach #1 after a strong and consistent run up the Top 25, hanging around the Top 5 for many weeks before taking #1. Tonight spent a total of 18 weeks on the Top 25, one of the chart's longest runs to date. And, though it is Sara's only appearance on the chart from Restless, it is just the first of two Sara singles to make it into the Top 50 (And, more impressively, the Top 20) in 2005. 18. No End In Sight by Katrina Elam Katrina Elam had one of 2005's earliest "big" singles, and one of the biggest of the year for a newcomer. No End In Sight debuted on the Top 25 on December 2 at #9. The track quickly climbed the chart after it's strong debut, and spent two weeks at #1 less than ten weeks into it's run on the chart. By the end of it's run, No End In Sight had spent a total of 17 weeks on the Top 25. Katrina accomplished an impressive feat for any artist on the Top 25, and such a strong run is made even more impressive by the fact that this was the first single from a then unproven talent. Katrina Elam was another of 2005's great surprises. 17. All These Things That I've Done by The Killers The Killers have been one of the most infectious bands around in the past two years. Their remake of Somebody Told Me blew up radio everywhere in 2004 and paved the way for both Mr. Brightside and this track, which marks The Killers' second appearance on the Top 50. All These Things That I've Done debuted on the Top 25 on July 7 at #21. It was a steady climb up and down the chart, with a 15-week run topped off by a week at #1. The Killers were easily one of 2005's top bands, so it is no surprise to see their name twice on the Top 50. 16. Here Is Our King by David Crowder Band One of 2005's best was definitely David Crowder Band. The release of A Collision was a much-anticipated and highly hyped disc that did not let down listeners one bit. In fact, it impressed the masses and became one of 2005's top discs on Christian charts nationwide. The lead single, Here Is Our King, was also a big success in 2005. Debuting on the Top 25 on September 1 at #19, this single is actually still charting on the Weekly Top 25. Currently, Here Is Our King has spent 15 weeks on the Top 25, including a week at #1. David Crowder Band created one of the best discs to come out in 2005 (And in the past few years, for that matter) and also created one of 2005's top singles. Both feats are definitely worthy of recognition. |
