Celebrations and Open Air Meetings            [view feedback blog]

Our God is an awesome God, and He has gifted each one of us with awesome abilities and gifts.  He has given to us all that we need and more, and above all, He has saved us from our sins through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ!  There is no better reason to CELEBRATE HIS LOVE AND GOODNESS!

("That's My King", by S.M.Lockeridge)

On Sunday afternoons at least bi-monthly* we love to gather together as a whole to praise and worship our God, and we invite everyone and anyone to come along and enjoy God's presence, whether you are a Christian already or not!

We love to praise God, to hear His Word preached with authority, and to experience His gracious presence afresh in an attitude of prayer and humility. We are expectant for God to manifest His presence, and we joyfully await His working through miracles, prophecies, and whatever other way He wants to bless us!  Our time together is also open to participation by all, from children to grandparents.  Whether it is through singing songs, playing an instrument, sharing some good news, or encouraging us from the Bible - we want to hear from you!

These times are truly wonderful times together, and we also have a combined meal afterwards.  So, come and enjoy God with us!

As part of our desire to celebrate God's love for us, we also hold Open Air Meetings to proclaim God's love to our world! Whether in city streets and malls, or in parks, we plan culturally relevant Gospel presentations so that all people may hear and respond to God's love for us! More information on open air meetings can be found at Open Air Campaigners.

Open Crowd Festivals are also a great way to reach out to the community and help people be exposed to the Gospel and the love of God in a fresh and exciting way. Visit Fusion International for more great ideas!!

* In Old Testament times, the people of Israel were instructed by God to "only" have seven great community festivals every year to celebrate His goodness. From our experience, we can understand why only so few - for example, to allow rest between these wonderfully emotional events, and to allow these events to be truly genuine and not a "show". That is why we feel that insisting on having such a grand celebration every week could too easily lead to burn-out or hypocrisy or "hyper-celebration-addiction"; we want them to remain special events which everyone looks forward to! (The more these events are "closer together", the more it may be important to have different teams of people running each celebration to preserve freshness and vitality and protect from "burn-out" and hypocrisy). In some instances, it may be beneficial to have some "high-impact" celebration services close together - many of the community festivals in the Old Testament went for over a week at a time!!

* In the early stages of the development of a new Christian Community, it may be that Celebration style events are held every week, and that they also fulfill the function of Worship.
