| Endurance Blessed Assurance Notes Page "Endurance" is, so far, the best rap song I have ever made. The lyrics, written in 1998, were once with an extremely simple drum and bass guitar track. This track was actually the first song I ever wrote with MIDI and synthesizers. Since the original track was so outdated, I made up a new arrangement in which the first two verses were in the style of the band Bush. The rest of the song used the same bass line as the original, but with a much more intense and exciting sound. The song, and, for that matter, the entire album, was based on a teaching that was given by Reverend Bill Green for a Sunday Teaching Service in 1998 at the Way International. The teaching delved into so many areas of enduring for the hope of the return of Jesus Christ. Even though it was over six years ago, there was one statement that he made that has stuck with me, which is the very last line of the third verse in this song and the quote mentioned in the last page of the CD booklet. He said that "God promised the hope so that we could remember that all of the obstacles that we endure now are for only a brief moment out of all eternity". This is the greatest reason why we endure. Everything that is thrown at us, every trick the adversary tries to pull on us, can not keep us from enduring. We have the power to win; God has given us the victory because of his tremendous love for us (see "The Touch of The Master's Hand" and "How He Loves You Child" notes). God has given us so many tools to help us to endure, like the gift of holy spirit and his matchless Word (see "Spirit Inside Me", "Benefits of SIT", "Study To Show", and "His Wonderful Works" notes). Along with this great power of God, we have the ability to strengthen and build each other in the household. As a household, we can run this race of life, knowing that we have the victory at this moment and that no principality nor power can take us off the way that God has called us to (see "Spiritual Athletes", "Into The Seas", "Now", "No One Can Take Us Down"). BLESSED ASSURANCE, written by Fanny Crosby and Phoebe Palmer Knapp in the late 1800s, is the hymn that I chose to close this album with. It is kind of a Southern black gospel arrangement of the hymn that is tied to the end of the Endurance track. Though the lyrics aren't included, the song is a comforting example of how we have the hope look forward to. We endure because of that hope, and God gives us the assurances in His Word to back us up. |
