| Study To Show Notes Page "Study To Show", taken from II Timothy 2:15, is my attempt at Irish folk music. To get as close as I could to this type of music, I had a collection of old Irish folk songs that were given to me by some friends who had just came back from a trip to Ireland and I played that CD the whole time I was arranging the musical track. When performing this song, I'll often make a joke about that this song is what would happen if they wrote an Irish drinking song about the Word of God, and while I'm singing it, I'll sometimes move my hand as if I was holding and moving a beer mug. The music is light and funny, but the lyrics deal with the greatness of biblical research. There is nothing that is "more accurate, and more refreshing and alive" than the Word of God. There are so many precious promises of God in there; after all, God did magnify His Word above His own name (Psalms 138:2). As Christian workmen of the Word, it is our duty and privilege to understand what God has provided for us, so we can claim it in our lives. (See my notes page on "God's Too Big To Limit".) The Word gives us the endurance to push ahead in life. It gives us the power to withstand the attacks of the adversary (Ephesians 6:10 - 13); it is the all-truth that sets us apart as saints (John 17:17); and it is our strength and salvation. Why shouldn't we get the most we can out of this great work of God? |
