Alright, I know a lot of you are saying, "What the hell is he
thinking?" Well, I put a lot of time into these, and I thought other
people could use them too. Or failing that, they might be
entertaining. Some of this stuff is, in my opinion, pretty damned
good. But it's up to you to see if you like it or not. Most everything on
here is in Microsoft Word format - sorry, I hate Bill Gates too, but
it's universal now. Damnit. But the latest stuff... thanks to OS X... is in PDF. Also easier to read, in my humble opinion. So here we go...

Deterring Religious Terrorism (PDF) Some of you have already read this one... anyway, it's possibly the basis for my PhD dissertation (whenever the hell I go for that) and definitely is the basis for a paper I'm writing for the Georgetown Student Conference on Security... once I get through finals, that is. Basically using a simple game-theoretic framework to demonstrate that yes, in fact, terrorists can be deterred.
Threats of Third Party Intervention and Territorial Conflicts (PDF) Building on my terrorism research, but less formalized, to look at how states signal intervention in territorial conflicts, and how at least for the US, this is a more persuasive argument than that revolving around the offense-defense balance or the ability to pay aggressors off.
Islam as a Normative Framework in Middle Eastern Politics (PDF) Building on past years' worth of research, a critique of Michael Barnett and an argument for a more nuanced view of norms in Middle Eastern politics, that in fact, religion counts as a very potent normative framework.
Keynote speech on "Resolved: That
American Foreign Policy Should Be Dictated By Morality (the
resolution was the reverse, but I spoke against the reverse, so it's
easier to state it as such) Delivered in the Georgetown University
Philodemic Debate Society 1 March 2001. And just for the record, it's
the best damn speech I've ever given, in my opinion.
The E-C Theory of Economic
Determinism and Extra-Curricular Longing. Who are E and C? If you
don't know, then too bad.
A legal opinion I wrote for the
Georgetown University Student Association Constitutional Council.
Supporting documentation available from
GUSA and
The Yard. It's dense, I
know, but hell, you only get one chance to write a legal opinion,
right?
