Monday's game was the two hour trek to East Moline to face United Township.  After a long weekend of games, the legs were a wee bit tired but spirits
seemed good after a very good display over the weekend.  The fact that we have not won at East Moline in 3 trips down there was NOT mentioned to the
ladies, but firmly in the back of the coaches mind =).  The ladies started out well moving the ball as they did over the weekend, but it was noticeably "less
crisp" as it was over the weekend (somewhat to be expected).  A miscue on a corner allowed for the ball to drop inside the penalty area, where we were
only able to clear it off an opposing player and into the net.  A handful of chances went beckoning as the ladies continued their struggles in the scoring
department.  Halftime score: 0-1.  At the half, the ladies were simply encouraged to just dig deeper and find that "figthing spirit" to attack the second half
and win this game.  After a long weekend where they so deserved a victory, it was time they simply fought to win this won, as it wasn't going to be
handed to them.  The second half proved to be much more rewarding as the ladies realistically could have added two more goals on top of the two that
were scored by junior Kate Young and freshmen Kelsey Mathieu.  Overall a satisfying match, again tended in the net by backup Kelsey Carroll.  In the
end, the result was right, as the East Moline coach mentioned to me at games end.  On to face the State tournament caliber talent in the Barrington
Tournament!  Well done ladies!!!~ Coach Eiss
GAME 12-13-14-15: BARRINGTON TOURNAMENT

GAME 1 vs. LAKE FOREST
Date:  Wednesday, April 25, 5:00pm @ Barrington High School Stadium
Starting Lineup:  Courtney Shelton (c), Taylor Scott, Sabina Welcher, Sam Welcher, Vicki Booth, Natalie Johnson, Kelsey Carroll, Nicole Clewer,
Kate Young, Taylor Giedd, Kelsey Mathieu
Non-starters:  Katie Fluegel, Tiphanie Truax, Katie Fluegel, MacKenzie Kelling, Maggie Blackburn, Becca Marion, Kori Maville
Result:   0-1 final; 0-1 halftime                      Team Record:  5-2-5 overall; 2-0-2 NIC-9
Opening match at the Barrington Tournament was against Lake Forest.  The ladies paid the team a little too much respect in the first half, but did well
to neutralize their attack out of the back in the second and provide the few chances necessary to even the score, but unfortunately could not capitalize
on them.  A valuable lesson learned as the newcomers to this tournament.  At the conclusion of the week, all the ladies agreed they wish they could have
this game back. ~ Coach Eiss
GAME 2 vs. WHEATON ACADEMY
Date:  Friday, April 27, 5:00pm @ Wheaton Academy
Starting Lineup:  Courtney Shelton (c), Taylor Scott, Sabina Welcher, Sam Welcher, Vicki Booth, Natalie Johnson, Kelsey Carroll, Nicole Clewer,
Kate Young, Taylor Giedd, Kelsey Mathieu
Non-starters:  Katie Fluegel, Tiphanie Truax, Katie Fluegel, MacKenzie Kelling, Maggie Blackburn, Becca Marion, Kori Maville
Result:   2-1 final; 1-0 halftime                      Team Record:  6-2-5 overall; 2-0-2 NIC-9
Due to field conditions and weather, the 2nd match of the Barrinton Tournament  game was relocated to Wheaton Academy, home field of the next
opponent.  What a facility!!!  The girls played extremely well holding a 1 goal lead from a score by Natalie Johnson off a Sam Welcher corner at the
break.  The ladies doubled the lead 10 minutes after half with a beautiful counter attacking goal struck by Kate Young and finsihed off once over the line
by Kelsey Carroll after great work  from Taylor Giedd and Kate Young.  The defense held  strong against the barrage of attacks Wheaton threw at us.
Great win ladies!!!! ~ Coach Eiss
GAME 3 vs. LAKE ZURICH
Date:  Saturday, April 28, Noon @ Barrington High School, back fields
Starting Lineup:  Courtney Shelton (c), Taylor Scott, Sabina Welcher, Sam Welcher, Vicki Booth, Natalie Johnson, Kelsey Carroll, Nicole Clewer,
Kate Young, Taylor Giedd, Kelsey Mathieu
Non-starters:  Katie Fluegel, Tiphanie Truax, Katie Fluegel, MacKenzie Kelling, Maggie Blackburn, Becca Marion, Kori Maville
Result:   3-3 final; 0-2 halftime                      Team Record:  6-2-6 overall; 2-0-2 NIC-9
The 3rd match at the Barrington Tournament against Lake Zurich saw the ladies go down 2 goals at halftime due to a strong wind into their goal and
the field going slightly uphill.  Once they gathered our thoughts at the break, the ladies came out with a 3 forward lineup and attacked everything for the
next 15 minutes, scoring 3 goals in the process!!!  Scorers were Natalie Johnson, Nicki Clewer, and Kelsey Carroll off throwins from Taylor Scott and a
corner by Sam Welcher.  The game tying goal was later admitted to be a foul by the official, but nonetheless an amazing comeback!  Great job ladies!!!!

GAME 4 vs. BARRINGTON

Kate Young, Taylor Giedd, Kelsey Mathieu
Non-starters:  Katie Fluegel, Tiphanie Truax, Katie Fluegel, MacKenzie Kelling, Maggie Blackburn, Becca Marion, Kori Maville
Result:   1-3 final; 0-2 halftime                      Team Record:  6-3-6 overall; 2-0-2 NIC-9
The final match at the Barrington Tournament against the host team - the runner up at State in 2006.  With their #1 keeper back, they were
determined to avenge two unexpected losses early in the tournament.  The ladies did well to keep in the match and made a game of it in the 2nd half
with a glorious strike from 20 yards out by junior Kate Young, but Barrington's fitness and depth were just too great for our tired legs.  A valiant effort
ladies!!!! ~ Coach Eiss
