Monroe Misc.
Welcome to the Early History of old Monroe County website.
I have spent approximately forty years researching  Greenbrier, Monroe, Summers, Fayette, Bonne, Putnam, Nicholas, Logan, and Wyoming Court House records in West Virginia, and numerous Court Houses in Virginia relating to my family lines.  I, also,  researched records in the Archives and History, local libraries and Archives in numerous libraries in Virginia.  Public records, census records, marriage bonds, county and family histories. university library records, State libraries in Pennsylvania and Virginia , and cemetery records  were used to gather information for  the family histories I have  compiled and written.

Over the years while researching family records, I have accumulated a vast collection on Monroe County.  I always photo copied all information I found on my family lines and I also photo copied records I found interesting in the Monroe Court  House.   After a number of years, I decided to publish the information I had collected and, therefore, I have compiled and written the Monroe County Soldiers in the Civil War and We the People of Old Monroe.

All of my ancestors  migrated into Monroe County in the 1780's from Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
I have over five ancestors who fought in the Revolutionay War.  Both of my parents were born and grew up in Monroe County, then moved to Beckley, WV.  I lived  and worked in Beckley all of my adult life and three years ago, I sold my home in Beckley and moved to Monroe County within a couple of miles of where my early ancestors lived.

I hope you will find my histories and  website interesting.
