Ellis Family of Greenbrier and Monroe Counties, Virginia, now West Virginia , his ancestors and descendants. Both male and female lines were focused on and each family is represented in this manuscript when information on family lines were available.
The primary source for the research on the Ellis and allied families came from Greenbrier, Monroe, Fayette, Boone, Putnam, Nicholas, Logan, Wyoming and Summers County Court Houses records. Material used were death, birth, deeds, census records, marriage bonds, county and family histories. Numerous books and published materials from libraries in Lewisburg, Fairmont, Union, Phillipi, Hinton, Beckley, the Archives and History in Charleston, WV and the vast collection of material in the University Library in Morgantown, WV, the State Library of Pennsylvania and the Archives in Richmond, Va. were used as references.
My intent in writting the Ellis Family History was to share the story of the Ellis family with interested descendants and researchers.
