Monroe County Soldiers
               in the
           Civil War
The book Monroe County Soldiers in the Civil War was completed recently and is now being published.  The information for this book was compiled from the Monroe Court House Records that I had copied over the years when I was researching for family lines, and from several articles in the Monroe Watchman in the early 1900's.  Also from cemetery records and research that was recorded by the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

The information in the book was taken from the original hand written records and, there maybe a difference in spelling of names.  In the same hand written record there were two and sometimes three different spellings of a last name.  Such as Counce, Countz, Kountz or Kounce.  therefore, you need to keep this in mind when loking for iformation on you civil war ancestor.

This book covers the Civil War period and list twelve different regiments that was organized in Monroe County and the men that belonged in these regiments. Drill lists,  guns purchased, clothing that was made and material purchased for uniforms.  Food purchased from residents and given to indegent families and etc.

If you are interested in Civil War History and Monroe County, this would be a good book to have in  your library.
