Children of WILLIAM and NELLIE
Children of JAMES and BONNIE
The 1870 census for Senneca Co., OH for William and Caroline listed children by initial only. In the 1870 census for Champaign Co., OH the sons J.W and E.W were not listed. According to Census records, William was an Insurance Agent. In notes left by a very aged aunt (90 yr.) said William had lived in either Shippenberg or Harrisburg, VA and that his father and two brothers had come from Scotland, (Craig Morrow Castle) I do know that at some point in time the family did come from Scotland though. Other names being researched are WELLER, BOYLAN, BODEN, SHANK and HARRIS.

Most of this information has been gathered from one of three places: (1)A much copied, much abused family geneaology written long ago by a forgotten author, (2) Memories of my grandmother and (3) friends and family on the internet. On rare instances, I have photocopies of vital records to refer to.

Alexander #1 (born in Scotland), married Jean Latta (born in Scotland) and had three known sons. (There are probably more children, but I have yet to find them.)
The three known sons of Alexander #1 and Jean Latta are:
William (mine)John #1 without a middle initial born 1768 probably Paisley
Alexander #2 born probably 1770, probably Paisley
William Craig (mine) was born 1766 Paisley, Low Church, Renfrewshire, Scotland He married (first) Janet Kerr in 1794 Scotland (probably Paisley) and had one son, Hugh. I think mother and child died in childbirth. William married again in 1811 Paisley to Janet McKelvie (she was born 1766 Paisley to Thomas McKelvie and Margaret Crawford) and had six children. In 1820, aboard the ship "Rebecca", William and Janet McKelvie Craig traveled to Metis, Rimouski, Quebec, Canada.
Data on John #1 without a middle initial is unknown at this time
Alexander #2 may have traveled with William to Canada (He may be the 81 year old Alexander living with Alexander #3 as shown in the 1851 Canadian census.)
NEXT GENERATION
The six children of William Craig and Janet McKelvie Craig are as follows:
Janet and Margaret both have children on file.
Alexander #3 (mine) was born 1814 Paisley, married Angelique "Ann" Cavil (sister and brother married brother and sister. Ann was born 1822 Canada to George Cavil and Diana Gibson) in 1841 in Canada and had fourteen children. All born in Metis, Rimouski, Quebec, Canada.
NEXT GENERATION
John Dugall Craig was born 1862 married Elizabeth E. "Lizzie" Anderson in 1844 in Nassagaweya, Halton Co, Ontario, Canada (where Lizzie was born 1857) and died in 1945 in Edenville Township, Midland Co, Michigan. John Dugall and Lizzie had six children.
NEXT GENERATION
John Robinson (aka "Grandpa Craig") was born 1889 Old Jerome Township, Midland Co, Michigan. He married Julia Elizabeth Publow in 1912 (Julia, aka "Grandma Craig", was born, married and died in Midland, Midland Co, Michigan. A "homebody" to the max!) and they had four children, all born in Midland, as was I.

I can't seem to get anywhere at all on my Craigs. I've read almost everything that comes through the CRAIG rootsweb, but, none tie into mine. I am pretty sure my Craig line is still in WV. I spoke to a man from near the area where my great grandpa lived. His grandfather was probably an older brother to my great grandpa. I know the year my gt. grandpa was born, but the family seems to have moved from Virginia or WV to Indiana and then when my gt. grandpa's father died (when my gt. grandpa was only 4 or 5), his mother remarried in WV or Indiana and moved back to WV. Some of my gt. grandpa's older siblings were born in WV and then some were born in Indiana like my gt. grandpa. Do not know my gt. grandpa's father's first name. Do know his mom's first name as well as the surname she married after my gt. grandpa's father supposedly died in Indiana. Anyway, this line in WV at present seems totally unwilling to communicate with me, even though I told them I am sure we are related and how and that I have a picture of my gt. grandpa and would send them a copy so they could tell me if they see any resemblances in their own family. No interest whatsoever. Its enough to make me CRY because it looks like I will never get anywhere via records or living family. Any ideas?
