| Well, here's going to be a big ass section. This is the what you need to know, not the "Everything about Guilty Gear!", so I'm going to have to leave out a few things. But, before I continue, know that there WILL be spoilers in my story if you read all of this. My story follows canon VERY closely, and since the events of the Crusades are never depicted in the games, only shown in rehashes or in timelines, my story can create a lot of what it wants, but I stay very close to what is set as canon, basically filling in the void gap of what has happened with a story, instead of just "The Crusades ended". 1945 After World War II, the United Nations is founded by many of the nations of the world in order to preserve a global sense of community. 2010 The potential of magic is realized and magic begins to be studied as a science. However the name of the person who first revealed the secrets of magic has been lost. 2014 The "Gear Project", a project dedicated towards the evolution and strengthening of mankind, begins. However its nature and full purpose are unknown. 2016 Frederick, the first prototype in the Gear Project, and lead scientist, escaped the laboratory shortly after undergoing the Gear conversion. Along the same time the rest of the laboratory personnel, starting with "That Man", disappear - the Gear Project grinds to a halt. Frederick, now no longer human, designs a Gear Cell Control Device in order to maintain a human appearance. 2073 That Man completes a "Perfect Gear" archetype, sort of the essence of Justice, that is subservient to mankind. A certain major country restarts the Gear Project. Frederick, learning of That Man's plans, begins designing the Outrage. 2074 That certain major country attempts to use Gears to overwhelm other countries. However, the Gear who possessed his own free will and incredible strength, Justice, had been born. As planned by That Man, other Gears became followers of Justice and turned against mankind. Gears attacked and destroyed the country of Japan. This led to the formation of the Holy Order and the beginning of the Holy War. 2099 A 6-year-old Kliff is saved from a Gear attack by Frederick. 2172 A certain "Sol" is recruited by Kliff into the Holy Order. Eventually, disenchanted by the Order's methods, Sol leaves at an unspecified date, taking the Order's treasured sword "Fuurenken" with him. 2174-ish Kliff hands down the Seikishidan to Ky Kiske, a young 16 year old at the time, also entrusting him with another of the Order's treasured swords, "Fuuraiken". Some say he leaves because he is old, others say because he recently lost a son in the war to Justice, Tesu, but in any case, he steps down. Tesu is also resurrected as a Gear sometime in these unknown years, giving rise to Testament, a Gear Commander for Justice on the battlefields. 2175 With the sealing away of Justice, the long Holy War comes to an end. The Holy Order is disbanded and mankind lives in peace. (AKA Justice's Story Mode in Guilty Gear XX) |

The Crusades are also known as the Holy War, but usually just in retrospect, just like we call World War 2 when we look back, but people didn't during it. The Holy Order is also called the Seikishidan, the latter being Japanese, and to me, it just sounds a whole hell of a lot cooler. But, they are interchangeable, and they do become that in the story. Kind of like you say military and army (not the same, but it's a good example). Frederick is Sol. Frederick is basically a suppressed, nicer version of him, the scientist. People basically think that Frederick became the gruff asshole he is because of the Gear transformation, but his ambition and drive never changed. His physical appearance (due to the Gear DNA) changed, as well as his voice/longevity of life/etc., but it is the same person, only a very different persona of Frederick. Much like Monte Cristo to Edmond Dontes in The Count of Monte Cristo. Still the same person, except a varied different version of him that's been changed. The Fuuraiken (Ky's, lightning) and Fuurenken (Sol's, fire) are two of the Jinki weapons. All eight Jinki come together to make the Outrage, the perfect Gear killing weapon made by Frederick when Justice was being made (he had a real knack for knowing when to build and make things, because he knew when it was all about to go to hell). Rumor is that he only made two of his eight designs, or none at all, and the U.N. found his designs and made them. Also, there is only one other confirmed Jinki, which is Anji's fans, the Zessen. All other weapons in the GG universe are not certifiable Jinki. The Crusades took a hundred years, maybe one hundred and one, that's disputable. But, Justice was sealed away in 217 by Ky Kiske into a dimensional prison. She (yes, Justice is a female) breaks free in 2180, but that's a whole different story (read Identity One to Samuraiter to find out the leading up to events of it, as well as the story of Guilty Gear 1 on the PSX). |
