Here comes the miscellaneous section. It kind of has everything else I didn't know where to put for most other stories, but for this one...the miscellaneous section is imperative. Because of my whole hearted aggression to writing a novel style of story, there is plenty to be in the miscellaneous section, which I will outline below. Basically, I made up a lot for the story. And, I here would like to list the things you may not notice when reading that are my contributions, because they just blend in so well (sarcasm, well, depending on how you like the story). If you want the best site on the net for accurate Guilty Gear information, go here to The Gear Project. This site basically has all of the real and canon information you can possibly want, since everything they have and use is only Daisuke Ishiwatari sanctioned, and that means Drama CDs, the mooks, the rare Guilty Gear Xtra Manga, and they ONLY use stuff that is true to Guilty Gear. I don't like Skuld's interpretation of Guilty Gear, but I trust this site enough to go to war with it. |

I recently made this concoction during math class (look on the January 8th, 2005 update for more information), and it's a picture that is pertinent to DGDE. It becomes very important at the end of Arc III, and is mentioned in Arc I, as well as II, so basically...it's important. Brownie points if you know, but also, it is very metaphoric (that's a boot mark on the bottom, and yes, there's a pair of boots in the picture; the flower; the broken architecture; the cloudy looking crap around the chair; the disjointed shading isn't my fault though, it's just me being kind of spastic. So, I might get to photoshopping it soon, but enjoy it for what it is. Please. It took me 90 minutes to draw, interrupted by about 10 minutes of sleeping, Led Zeppelin in my head, and having to flip my binder over to write logarithm bullshit. So, here it is. The Seikishidan bases and conduct I made. The ranks (private, lieutenant, sergeant, commander) are my making up, as well as having different colored trim on the uniforms to signify it (Sol is seen in one canon picture wearing a red trimmed Seikishidan outfit, so I assumed that was right below blue, what Ky wore, and since Ky was the commander, I assumed blue was the best you could have, and only Ky could wear blue). The bases (Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, etc.) are all of my making. Nothing ever says about Seikishidan bases, how they worked, how they should, how soldiers lived, anything. The fighting styles, the soldier tactics, the way Gears are controlled by Justice, how Justice actually operates, how Justice thinks, the way Justice's suit functions, all mine. The way Gears look (we see Gears in the GGXPlus cinematic, but only briefly), the way they move, feel, etc. The different types of Gears, how the soldier Gears differ from refined Gears (Sol, Testament, Justice). How Gears just live, breath, smell, all of it is my imagination there. The way the U.N. is run in conjunction with the Seikishidan (U.N. is there in canon, but it is never really said or showed how it works, that's all my doing). U.N. representatives, the A.A.'s, the way rescue ops are conducted, the way missions are given/taken, the way the U.N. is so damn smart about everything, etc. I also made up MTs, and how those function/work/their history. Zepp's government and how the people there feel and are. Also, Troy is entirely my creation, as is Paris, Brodeaux, Greece, Lyon, all of it. There is no shown locations or mythos in the Crusades era to any places, I make each and everyone of them up in my head and make them all in the story. Every place, scene, and history of those places (despite being there and we know they exist today, but not 170 years from now). I didn't make up Jakarta or Dresden, those are both Samuraiter's. Bianca, Quint Darton, the narrator, Gestahl, Hans Oppem, Rivarez, Zimmerman, and so many more characters are all mine and made by me. I did not make Jeremy Colt, Don Corisione, or Jaygus, they belong to Person with Many Aliases (first two) and Samuraiter (last one). But, they will be using Darton also in their stories, so not to fret that there is sharing, as well as that we are trying to build a network of fan canon. Magic is a resource, like oil and electricity, not like Final Fantasy summoning crap. I do not want to say I was the first to look at GG this way (since Katzy in her initial stories kind of hinted at the more real side of GG instead of loopy magic crap), but I was the first to really bring this style of GG up and to the fore front. From my original DG, I had the "magic isn't sorcery" style of writing, and I tried to reflect GG as a world like ours would be, if these events had happened. Our world doesn't have crazy magic and the likes, we have technology and resources, and that's exactly what I make my story out to be. As I also strive to make the governments real, the warfare real, the way everything works and feels real, as if it could happen if the events of GG were to take place. The numbering system of cities, that they get another number added when they're destroyed and rebuilt was Samuraiter's idea, I just fleshed it out. Also, the Krieg was Samuraiter's, but I give a lot of hints to it. I am trying to make a fan canon story here. I write this like a novel, like a serious story, not a fan fiction. I don't write this as a fun story using the characters we love, I write this as a part of the history of Guilty Gear, giving life and meaning to what we know as a three sentence description of the Crusades in the manuals and summaries. Much like Kuro Ky isn't real and fans made him a character, and like Testament's crow was given the name Zio by fans and adapted, I hope to have Desolate Gail an adapted story to the canon of Guilty Gear, that it rises above fan fiction and into being something that IS in the history of Guilty Gear. I know it may sound a bit boisterous and presumptuous, also arrogant and foolish, but that's how I truly feel about it. I have put so much into it, added so much, and basically made a world...made this era of Guilty Gear history that has never been shown in a game or in any part of Guilty Gear, except for the sentence long summaries and timelines, that there is a serious amount of work and dedication I have put in. I have tried to make a cohesive and real world for Guilty Gear's end of the Crusades, and I believe that I have suceeded, and it is much different than what we see in the games, because my story is in a different time, and really, a different world (considering the events). People wouldn't have thought the same or acted the same, it was a different time, much like the 1920's are not comparable to the 1990's, they're just so different, they're worlds apart, so I have creative freedom here, and I think I do not do a dis-service to the canon of Guilty Gear. |
