| Einhander was an old-school game released on the PSX in 1998 by Square, using the FF8 graphics engine and before FF8 (as was Parasite Eve). The game catered to veterans of the side-scrolling shooting genre, and was very hard, as it should be, catering to the veterans of R-Type and Gradius. And, it was pretty. It was 3d on a 2d plane, and was (in my opinion) the best graphics on PSX, bar none. Also, it had a heavy story underneath (if you could find it out, since the game tells you next to nothing). I love that story, and my story takes place during the 5th level and then onward. Like the rest of my multi-chapter stories, it is not finished, and might not be. I kind of stopped it due to Dual Enmity snagging me away, but I did like what I got out of this story. It was concise, and very good plot building. If I ever go back to it, I will wrap it up. It wasn't going to be huge, maybe 50k at most, but it was going to be good, I know that. Shame I never got around to it. Maybe after Dual Enmity. Also, I just love the design of the game, it's just slick, and the music is trance-heaven. |
