| The Gem Past the darkness and the forbidden pathways Far beyond the many pleasures of the flesh There lies a hidden gem of great and immeasurable value Who's beauty and radiance, once beheld, cannot be denied Unfortunately precious few have sought after this treasure Althougth it's location is known, for it bears many names Refusing to change thier paths, they remain comfortable in thier travels Foolishly pursuing this world's fleeting passions and dead-end games Yet, there are those forunate few who have bravely made the journey And they found lasting inner peace, wisely counting it as thier just reward Discerning the difference between foolishness and wisdom And in so doing obtained the keys to Eden's fabled door The road may prove to be long and dreary The nights seemingly bitter, lonely, and cold Although solitude may be your sole companion What you seek is worth more than any precious silver and costly gold Past the darkness and the forbidden pathways Far beyond the many pleasures of the flesh There lies a gem of great and immeasurable value That once beheld, it` beauty, and it` radiance cannot denied date: Monday, August 9, 2004 by: D. | The Grand Design If these walls could speak Can you tell me what they would say Would they speak of our nutured love and peace Or would they give myriad accounts of our blind hatred and moral decay If the dead, those long in the grave could see Can you tell me what thier corroded eyes would observe Would they serve to bear witnness to humanity's undying faith and devotion Or would they turn and close thier eyes against our endless violence and waste If we could read and hear each others thoughts Can you tell me that we would learn from what we have gleaned Would we use this knowledge to promote tolerance and peace Or would it seve to further destroy humanity's feeble pride If religion could truly give us all the answers Would our prayers still serve to expand the mind and soothe the soul Or would countless millions still needlessly sacrifice thier lives Would God in His mercy, still try to show us the true way of life My friend, I do not bear the answers Yet, it seems that in vain I have searched, and I have cried At night, upon my bed these things I have pondered But, maybe, just maybe, the truth lies only just beyond the Great Divide date: Thursday.
