July 6, 2008A good turnout for the picnic ensured some "great" eats. If I get some of the recipes for the dishes I'll post them in "Great Tastes." It was good to see the Roberts again (Riley's getting big). Next time we'll set up so that no one's in the shade. Thanks to everyone, especially Ellen, for a successful celebration of Independence Day.
June 11, 2008As you can see I haven't updated the Great Pines website, www.greatpines.org, in quite a while. Today I received an email with two recipes of Dick Little's. So I added them to "Great Tastes" our online neighborhood cookbook. If any of you would like to share one or two recipes with the neighbors email them to me, [email protected], and I will add them.If there is anything else you would like to see on the site please let me know.
July 28, 2007A hardy crew went to work spreading chipss on the path to Hilltop. See pictures.July 16, 2007I thought I had better date my comments with a year since I do it so seldom. I had hoped for more contributions from the neighbors but...February 5I asked Brent for a picture of Riley and he kindly sent some to all the neighbors. Just for the record I'll put one on the website to mark the first child born to the neighborhood.February 3Our neighborhood has been increased by one, Riley Jack Roberts arrived today. I hope to post a picture of the fellow soon.
Ted and Rosemary Fulton finally moved in yesterday just before the snowstorm. They are a welcome addition to our
neighborhood and slightly older than Riley.
November 25I received an email the other day with a picture attached. . Any idea who they can be?
October 14The other day the foliage around the neighborhood was pretty spectacular. This is the view looking up from my backyard.
September 14The GPOA Annual Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, September 30, 9:30am, at the Tracy Memorial Library.June 30This is the beginning of the Great Pines blog which is meant to be interactive in that there is a place for viewers to comment on any subject or content of the blog. I would appreciate any suggestions, pictures, stories, etc. to make it more of a neighborhood thing. This is a free website so there is an ad banner on the right side which can be eliminated by clicking on the arrow to the right of "Yahoo!." Sometimes I've noticed that the ad won't go away and I'm not sure why so I've made the page so we can see all of it even if the ad stays.
July 5I thoroughly enjoyed the annual Great Pines Independence Day picnic and look forward to the next one. During the festivities I mentioned that I was working on a Great Pines blog. For those of you who are curious enough I will email everyone the website URL, www.geocities.com/gpinesblog, and you can log on and take a look.
I would love any suggestions you have to improve the site. I don't use a website creation tool, I do the HTML code from scratch so it is a little rudimentary. If you have any anecdotes and/or pictures I would love to add them to the blog. Just email them to me at [email protected].
July 28I emailed everyone to let you know what I was attempting to do with this website. I received three responses, two thought it was good and one couldn't access it for some reason. I wonder why the others haven't responded. Dick Little thought that this might be a good way to communicate GPOA information to the neighbors but judging from the response that may not work. If you read this and want to comment just click on the "Comments" at the end of this message and put your comment in the box provided. Thanks.
