Great Pines was first described to us in February of 2002 by Fred Downey. We liked what we heard so decided to take a look. We donned our snowshoes and walked through the place. It required a little imagination to picture what the finished project would look like but we liked the piece of land. It didn't take long to make up our minds that this was the place for us.

This was what the entrance to Great Pines looked like in the beginning. - February
A little farther in and the future Kren site is on the left and the Sweeny site appears on the right. - February

It would be quite some time before anything was done on the Woodger lot. - May
Next they cleared the way for Conifer Lane and the Luby's lot. Notice that the road is level with Luby's lot. May
The first foundation to go in belongs to the Kren's. I asked the builder how long it would take to finish the house. "Four months." - May They discovered ledge at the top of Conifer that will take some serious blasting. - May

Watching the work on Conifer Lane was puzzling. The road was cleared, blasted, dug up for the water line then filled in, dug up for the sewer line then filled in, dug up for the power line then filled in. It looked like a union job. Then they paved it to the Luby driveway and the scenario was repeated for the rest of the lane. I thought they would never get to my driveway.

This shows how much Conifer was excavated before all the fill was added. September

Some of the fill is ready to be added. The Luby house is almost done and the Sweeny foundation is in. September

This is some of the rock from the blasting. September
Continued work on Conifer Lane looking toward the Schauff's lot. ? September
This is the scene in front of our future driveway. - October The water line goes by the Gachelin lot. - November
It's deceptive how nice this looks. - November Upper Conifer is once again dug up (they're getting good at it). December
