NICO COMMITS TO BLADES 04/09/07

Nicolas Anelka has put an end to speculation surrounding his future, by signalling his intentions to remain at Division Two club Sheffield United. The Frenchman has made an electric start to the season, scoring goals and bagging a Team GI cap. The former Arsenal and Manchester City schemer had been linked with a 12,000,000 move to Everton but the offer was turned down by The Blades.

"I seem to have been linked with every club in the country of late, but my heart is in Sheffield" said Anelka, who was speaking to the GI Echo.

"Hopefully we will prosper together because I would not have remained here if I'd thought we could not win trophies." added the France international, who has scored six goals in five games so far this season, including braces against Portsmouth and former club Manchester City at the City of Manchester stadium.
SPURS SIGN 10M YOUNG 04/09/07
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the 10,000,000 signing of England star Ashley Young from Aston Villa. The promising midfielder has most recently spent time on loan at Division Two outfit Preston North End, for whom he scored eight goals for last season in the GI Championship, helping them to promotion.

"He has got enormous potential and I think he will fulfil that," said Tottenham manager Martin Jol, whos side finished 12th last season in the GI Premiership.

Ashley Young is expected to feature this weekend as Spurs go to Craven Cottage to take on London rivals Fulham in a Division One encounter.
CHELSEA SIGN RICHARDS 18/07/08
Chelsea have completed the 30,000,000 signing of defender Micah Richards from Southampton. The former Manchester City star joins the Blues after Saints boss Paul Ince decided to cash in so the squad could be strengthened at St Mary's.

"It was a difficult decision but after talking about it with the chairman, we decided we needed to let Micah go so the squad could be improved." Ince told the GI Echo.

The England ace was unveiled to the media at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea manager Martin O'Neill expressed his delight, saying Richards was a "wonderful" signing.
CURBS WARNS PLAYBOY LAHM 04/09/07
West Ham United boss Alan Curbishley has warned defender Philip Lahm over the apparent "playboy" lifestyle that he has been leading in recent weeks. The German star came out publicly in August, claiming La Liga giants Real Madrid wanted to sign him in a 30,000,000 deal and he was prepared to leave Upton Park. According to reports, following the outburst, Curbishley and Lahm had several training pitch rows and would refuse to speak to each other. The final straw was when Lahm was included in the Team GI squad to face England. The defender's inclusion apparently angered Curbishley who sees the player as the lynchpin at West Ham United. To add onto this trauma, Lahm has a hectic private life in London and is dating a well known German pop star and his overall behaviour is beginning to concern the Hammers. Lahm will be playing later this week as Germany take on Team GI in a friendly match at the GI Dome, Ramsey.
