REDS REJECT PIENAAR BID

Liverpool have turned down a suprise �4,000,000 bid from D1 rivals Middlesbrough for South African midfielder Steven Pienaar.
The former Ajax and Borussia Dortmund star has emerged as a top target for Boro' boss Graeme Souness, who is keen to bolster his squad in an attempt to avoid relegation to D2. The player himself is quite keen on a move to the Riverside Stadium, after struggling to break into the first team at Anfield. Speaking to the GI Times, Pienaar admitted that he may need to leave Liverpool in order to find more regular first team football, whether that be in D1 or D2.
RON DEFENDS KOP MOVE

Cristiano Ronaldo has come out to defend his decision to quit Manchester United to join fierce rivals Liverpool, after being criticised by a host of former United players and managers.
Ex-Manchester United skipper Steve Bruce has decribed the Portuguese winger as a "traitor" following the high profile move to Anfield while former United legend Eric Cantona claims the former Sporting star moved for the money. Ronaldo, speaking to the GI Times, has defended the move, saying he joined Liverpool for footballing reasons only. The player scored his first Liverpool goal on only his second start, it came against Wigan Athletic in the GI Cup.
KAMENI GOES AWOL

Liverpool misfit Carlos Kameni has launched a scathing attack on the club and has refused to play for Roberto Mancini again, after a �3,000,000 bid from Sochaux was turned down for him. The Cameroon international and former Espanyol star has gone awol and has refused to turn up to training. According to some reports, the 'keeper has flown over to France to discuss personal terms with Sochaux, despite the two clubs failing to agree a fee. According to his agent, Kameni refuses to play for Roberto Mancini at Liverpool and is desperate to thrash out a move away from the club, either on a loan or permanent basis. Liverpool have not yet responded but a statement is expected later this week from Anfield.
