| VIDIC STAYING WITH VILLA 24/02/09 Chelsea have admitted defeat in their pursuit to sign Aston Villa star Nemanja Vidic after being told they would need to offer John Terry in part exchange for the Serbian international. The former Premiership and D1 champions Chelsea, were hoping to lure Vidic to Stamford Bridge by offering starlet Micah Richards to D2 side Villa. Then they were looking to swap captain John Terry with Newcastle schemer Carles Puyol, who has long been linked with a move to London. It now seems that all four players involved in this transfer sage will remain at their respective clubs, for the time being. |
| DROGBA EYES LOAN STAY 24/02/09 Didier Drogba has told Chelsea manager Martin O'Neill that his loan move to Reading has helped him recapture his old form and the Ivory Coast star is eager for a loan move elsewhere for S8. "I've been given the chance to come to Reading and play five games this season and impress. So far, I've scored three goals in two games. I hope to play well in the last three remaining games and score many goals for Reading." Drogba told the GI Times. "Maybe it was a good idea sending me out on loan? I've actually enjoyed it. I wouldn't mind if Chelsea decided to loan me out next season too. If it means I have to go to another club and score goals to get back my Chelsea place then so be it. It's a good challenge for me. I love scoring goals, I love winning football matces whether that be in D1 or D2." |
