Canada - Week 3
The West family venture
Day 13

Back up a mountain again. This time the slopes of Lake Louise ski area, including the World Cup downhill runs by the ski-lift. After that we drove, a lot.
Day 14

We drove, we drove and we drove some more. Jon and I did find some swings and a see-saw at the campground though. Exhausting day! Also found a Christian music radio channel called Praise106.5. Man we need these things in the UK!
Day 15

Having checked into
Burnaby Cariboo RV Park we hit Downtown Vancouver for the first time. Taking the Skytrain (Vancouvers equivalent to the underground; we went under, they went over). We found ourselves at the base of the Harbour Centre 360degree Lookout Tower. 2 high-speed elevator rides later we took a tour of the inner-city with The Vancouver Trolley Company learning a lot about the history of the city and the future, Vancouver 2010 the home of the future Winter Olympic Games.
Day 16

Today was our planned adventure day. The first leg took us to Victoria on Vancouver Island by
seaplane. Having never flown in smaller than a jumbo jet this was quite an experience with some amazing views. Second was a 3 hour trip out into the Pacific Ocean waters. We were hunting Whales. Just to watch though, not really hunt. The Orca Killer Whales had strayed beyond our reach and in the fog it was tough searching anyhow but we did find some Minky Whales, Harbour Seals and a Bald Eagle. Nice!
The final stretch was the coach and ferry trip back to the mainland. The ferry was running an hour late but this did give some great views of the sunset. A long, but good, day.
Day 17

One day before our departure to the Land of Hope and Glory. Jumping on the bus we went to the famous Stanley Park and around the
aquarium. It turned into a very fishy day as we watched Disney and Pixars Finding Nemo in our hotel room that night.
Day 18

Taking a walk around the future home of the Winter Olympics opening and closing ceremonies, BC Place, we ventured to Science World to kill time before hitting the airport.
Patriotic songs rang out from our lips as we returned to our hotel. Its coming home, its coming home
