The Four-Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the TRUTH?

  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?

  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

QC Red Cross joins club officers in consultative meeting held with Bgy. Masambong officials

The Quezon City Red Cross, represented by no other than its administrator Mrs. Annie Torres, joined CP Don and CS Salvie, together with some PHP Foundation in Asia, Inc. officers and members, in holding a consultative meeting with Bgy. Masambong officials last Saturday, July 2, 2005. Mrs. Torres was accompanied by one of her staff.

The meeting was held at the barangay hall at around 3 p.m. It was also attended by community leaders coming from the barangay's four depressed areas. Unfortunately, the barangay health worker was not able to attend.

As, previously agreed, initial lists of families affected by the chronic flooding in their areas were submitted. This would allow the club to have a clear idea on the number of target beneficiaries to contend with during heavy rains or in the height of a typhoon.

QC Red Cross to train housewives as extension health workers

The QC Red Cross offered to train housewives as community health workers, equipped with proper skills and know-how. It was agreed that forty women, with ten each coming from the four affected areas will undergo a three-day training. The training was scheduled on week-ends, with a graduation rite on the last day.

The club agreed to provide food and other material preparations, while QCRC will provide the trainers and related information materials.

This will be followed by a training of the men folk in disaster preparedness. All these are in line with the Club's R.E.S.C.U.E.1 Program of addressing the community's most immediate needs.

Com-Dev Partner of RC Masambong

QCRC's interest to support and participate in the club's community activities in Bgy. Masambong is a result of CP Don's meeting with QCRC Administrator Annie Torres last Monday (June 27). The meeting was arranged by Rtn. Divine Reyes, who is the club's director for Community Affairs. During the said meeting, it was agreed that the club will enter into a MOA with QCRC as institutional partners in pursuing the club's "focused community development initiatives" in Bgy. Masambong, and turn it into a model community. Annie even expressed interest in joining the club, being surrounded by Rotarians herself.

Our very own VP Pax Maghacot sits in QCRC's Board together with DGSR Badong Viare, who assisted us in our charter preparations. QCRC's chair is Dante V. Liban who is also a Rotarian.
