FORCED AND CONTAINED NATURAL ATTENUATION (FCNA)..... Cleanup Current Polluting Industry Outflows and Cleanup Existing Sites. There are several companies that sell the design technology that is also being used to clean up the Florida Everglades of nitrates, pesticides, dioxin, metals and other toxics. (The South Florida Water Management District used it's own personnel to develop it's version for the Everglades cleanup). This FCNA technology is called "The Living Machine" by the Center for the Restoration of the Waters and is called the "Solar Aquatic" system by Ecological Engineering Associates. Basically you build a swamp in tanks. The natural living beings in the tanks, either break down the toxics or absorb the toxics. (Plants, earthworms, snails, fish etc.) This cleanup methodology for contaminated water, silt and soil, is thousands of times more efficient and is generally less costly than pure chemical means and manufactured filters. This Forced and Contained Natural Attenuation cleanup can, in general be applied to endocrine disruption levels of toxics (eg. Dioxins and PCBs between 1 part per million and 1 part per trillion): 1. Sewage contaminated with toxic chemicals 2. Storm water street runoff contaminated with toxic chemicals 3. Farm land runoff contaminated with toxic chemicals 4. Chemical plant/paper mills/ refineries etc. outflows 5. Use a water dredge to move through contaminated neighborhoods and feed dredge material into barge mounted Living Machines. 6. Use a water dredge to move through contaminated river silt to clean up that silt to use as land fill.
