| 27/28 March 2004 The Men's Division 1 Conference titles were decided over the weekend, with Swiss Club Red Flamingoes taking the Eastern Conference title with its 10th consecutive win, while Millennia Skools Innebandy took the Western Conference title with a 4-2 win over Millennia Skools Floorball. With Moosettesz already assured of the Ladies' Division Eastern Conference title earlier, the only title left undecided is the Ladies' Western Conference title. NUS Titans should take the title after next week's final round of matches as they face Orionz, while the only other team with a mathematical chance of overhauling them, Millennia Skools OSB Owls, face off against Eastern Conference champions Moosettesz, in what should be the semi-final match-up the following week as well. The teams that Swiss Club Red Flamingoes and Millennia Skools Innebandy beat over the weekend should likely be their quarter-final play-off opponents as well. Flamingoes outplayed NTU Hurricanes by 9-3 despite having its Malaysian line missing from its line-up, with Filip Dahlgren scoring 4 goals, while little Enrico Marican grabbed 3 goals. Millennia Skools Innebandy outplayed Millennia Skools Floorball by 4-2, and in the process became the first ever 100% Singaporean team to win any major local title for the Men's Division in the history of Singapore floorball. Team Tazs Arowana had a good weekend, winning both its matches to grab 6 points and a possible 3rd place finish in the Eastern Conference. On Saturday, they beat Termites 8-2, and on Sunday, they edged out Millennia Skools OSB 4-3 in a match postponed from 29 Feb. Millennia Skools OSB had a terrible weekend, losing both its matches. On Saturday, they had lost 1-16 to Nhac Tre No.1 after having the audacity to take a 1-0 lead after just 25 seconds. Mattias Perjos scored 5 goals for Nhac Tre No.1, while both Kristian Olsson and Niclas Erlandson weighed in with 3 goals each. Moosemen also reached double figures, winning 10-0 against NUS Saints. NUS Nemesis won 4-0 against wooden spoonists Tampines East Knights, who now have one last match against Nhac Tre No.1 next week to grab their only points of a dismal season. In the Ladies' Division, NTU Tempest finally scored their first victory of the season with a 4-2 win over Orionz, but had to weather the storm after Orionz scored two late goals to claw back a 4-0 deficit. The unlucky NTU Tempest could eventually finish the season with another win over Millennia Skools Floorball Youth and 8 points, but still finish bottom of the very strong Western Conference, while NUS Jupitans could qualify in 2nd place from the Eastern Conference on 5 points even if they lose to Swiss Club Pink Flamingoes. Millennia Skools OSB Owls clinched a play-off place by overcoming NUS Jupitans 4-0, while Swiss Club Pink Flamingoes fell out of the race when they failed to beat NUS Titans, despite taking a 3-1 lead. NUS Titans eventually won 6-3. Moosettesz beat Millennia Skools Floorball Youth 10-1 in the remaining match in the Ladies' Division. |
