"You don't get a choice, Sarah. The American GOVERNMENT chose you to do this, and by God, you're going to do it!"
She glared at him with one of those glares that almost sent shivers of fear down his spine, then continued pouting. She had been selected from a group of popular worldwide celebrities to be taken as an ambassador to a planet called Coruscant.
"Why did they pick me, Jim?"
"Why not? You're respected, talented, interesting.."
"Cut it with the flattery, why did they pick ME?"
"I suppose its because they thought you were a great representative for our planet. This is the first time we've had any kind of true contact with other worlds, and I suppose they want to send someone who lives."
"Lives? What, you mean..."
"Parties, sees the more compulsive lifestyle. Someone who will appeal to the masses and bring interplanetary tourism."
"Right..." she said in disbelief.
"This should appeal to you though...Your 'escort' is single."
"My escort?"
"Yes, someone from out there who will sort of be your bodygaurd, your companion, and your advisor. So you don't do anything stupid."
"What about my career, Jim? How will my fans react to my leaving them. I mean, that won't really fly well with the press. And suppose I DO go, and they excessively cover this on the news and everyone gets sick of me and..."
Then there was a knock on the door. Jim went to go answer it, and Sarah remained even more annoyed for not being allowed to finish.
Jim returned with a man. He was wearing white and brown, and was quite tall.
"Sarah, allow me to introduce you, this is Qui-Gon Jinn, one of your escorts."
Sarah shot Jim a look of sheer surprise, which quickly changed to that 'you're dog meat when he's gone' look. Is he the *single* man who was supposed to appeal to her?
"Pleased to meet you," she quickly remembered, "Jim was just telling me about you."
"Sarah, Qui-Gon is what they call a Jedi."
"A Jedi?"
"Yes," Qui-Gon responded, and then proceeded to explain exactly what a Jedi was.
Just then there was another knock at the door.
"And that should be my Padawan."
Jim again went off, leaving Qui-Gon and Sarah alone momentarily. She began to ask a question, but Jim retuned, with yet another Jedi, this one much younger.
"Sarah, Jim, meet Obi-Wan Kenobi, my Padawan."
This must have been who Jim was earlier referring to. Obi-Wan was young, tall, and he had the most amazing eyes. They were like emerald sapphires, the perfect blend of blue and green.
Everything about him was perfect. Her eyes traveled up the knee high boots and the white pants, which were cinched tight around his waist by a black belt with a silver clasp, and his robes, hiding a powerful chest and wide shoulders.
Yes, he had to be the one, because Qui-Gon was much too old.
She couldn't take her eyes off of him. He soon realized this and smiled at her, which helped her to realize her unintentional gawking.
Over the next few days, Sarah was briefed, de-briefed, probed, prodded, inspected, and examined for her travel.
"..So here are the clothes you are to wear."
It was about four or five pairs of shiny, silver 'space suits', similar to those seen in cheesy 1950s monster movies.
"No."
"Excuse me?"
"NO way.." Sarah argued in sheer protest, "You couldn't PAY me to wear that."
"Good because we're not going to. You're wearing them, no questions asked. Need I remind you, you are representing our planet for the first time, and it would be wise to adhere to our restrictions."
"But NOBODY here wears that stuff."
"Yes, but it would be in our best interest for you not to go in hip-riding jeans and a cropped T-Shirt. Thats fine for here, but other leaders may find it offensive."
"And looking like I came out of a microwave wont be?"
"I'm not going to discuss this with you. Those are your instructions."
And with that, he left.
One week later, the crew was preparing to leave for Coruscant.
"Psst..." Sarah indiscreetly tried to get Obi-Wan's attention. "Hey...Jedi Boy.."
He turned to her, and she quickly shuffled up to him.
"Do me a favor?"
"Which is..."
"Sneak this bag on the ship for me."
"Why? What's in it?"
"Stuff. I'll show you later. Please?"
Reluctantly, he agreed, and headed towards the door of the ship.
"Whats in the bag?" asked a government officer.
"Supplies." Obi-Wan answered.
"What kind of supplies"
"Top Secret ones."
"Carry on then."
He placed the bag in her quarters and returned outside.
