Click to view enlargement Dad was born in India where Grandad was manager of a tea plantation. Dad went to boarding school in Scotland followed by agricultural college. When studying was over, Grandad and Granny came back to Scotland. They bought Earlston Mains farm. Mum and Dad met at church in Edinburgh where Mum also had an office job and where she was a keen hockey player. After their wedding they came to stay and work on Earlston Mains, where they still are. Dad has farmed with a wide variety of things over the years: sheep, cattle, strawberries, potatoes, to name but a few. Mum is involved in various voluntary jobs and they are in a Bible Study group and prayer group. We have a letter from them every so often. There's always some introduction and then there's a section where Mum notes down the main events of each day. This section always starts with the words: to recap. To keep fit and healthy they go to the fitness center where Roy was the manager. Dad is also attending a computer class there. They also enjoy excursions to places of interest in their area. If you want to contact them per e-mail: Ian Buchanan or Sylvia Buchanan

Click to view enlargement Mum and Dad met at Tukkies (Univ. of Pretoria) while they both studied there. They always told us that cupid was sitting on the tennis net to shoot off his arrows. Dad studied engineering and Mum social work. After Mum finished her studies they got married. Mum started working while Dad finished his Masters Degree in engineering. Dad started his first job in Vanderbijpark at ISCOR (Iron and Steel CORporation). I was born and Mum always says their lives changed completely. 18 months later Petra was born and then we moved to Hartbeespoort.

This was where Danie and Surita (twins) were born and where I finished school. Dad worked at AEC (Atom and Energy Corporation) and Mum sold scin care products and was one of the tennis trainers in town. Tennis was very popular and we all learnt to play at a young age. Mum later on became an estate agent. After Dad had worked for AEC for 13 years, he worked for CSIR (Council for Science and Industrial Research) for one year. In 1991 he started working for SASTECH, a department of SASOL. The whole family, except me, moved to Secunda. I stayed in Hartbeespoort to finish my last year in school.

For Mum it was difficult to leave her friends behind and to start anew in Secunda, but she started working as an estate agent again, which helped her to get to know people and settle into the new town. This is where they still stay and work. If you want to contact them per e-mail: Daan le Roux

We will always be very grateful for the excellent way in which our parents brought us up and for the fine examples of Christians that they are. Now we always know that they love us deeply and will always pray for us.
