I have been very fortunate in having a diverse educational background. As a young student, I attended parochial, urban and rural schools. During my year-long internship I was placed in a suburban school. This diverse background has enabled me to better understand how varying schools and school systems work.

During my undergraduate years, I attended Michigan State University (college rankings) where I studied education and history. I had a diverse education as I took courses in child development, Great Lakes Studies, French, and sociology. I also student taught in two diverse elementary schools, one in which most students spoke English as a second language. Following my sophomore year, I went to the United Kingdom for a study abroad experience where my views of the world expanded.

Following my undergraduate education, I completed a year-long internship in a 3rd grade classroom. Not only did I teach my students while I was there, I learned from them as well. I believe that all of this diversity in experience will make me a better and more understanding teacher.
