ECHO is geared toward families in which the oldest child being homeschooled is at least eight (8) years old, since the PA Homeschool Law does not require formal education to begin until age eight. A variety of three one-hour classes are offered for each grade level, with nursery and activities provided for younger siblings.
Since ECHO is a co-op, one parent from each participating family must be teaching or helping in a class each hour. All parents will need to fill volunteer positions as well. Parents are also required to help with the cleaning of the facility.
ECHO provides an opportunity for students to make friends with other homeschoolers in a group setting, and helps homeschool parents to connect. Cyberschooling families are welcome to participate in ECHO as long as their class schedule allows for the full time commitment to be met.
