All ECHO volunteers (board members, teachers, and helpers) must conduct themselves and teach in accordance with our Statement of Faith: "We believe that our primary purpose in our educational efforts is to teach and govern ourselves in accordance with a Biblical view. This means that God exists, has created man in His image, and has made salvation possible for sinful man by faith in Jesus Christ, God's Son. We are able to seek and receive forgiveness from God and work together for the glory of God."
Teachers will be responsible to accomplish the following: Fill out a Class Form prior to each session's deadline. -Attend ECHO Registration. -Attend each of your ECHO classes. -Call a board member as soon as possible if you must be absent from your class for any reason. Please note that the ECHO board will be in contact with any participant who has repeated absences. -Be responsible to bring supplies for your class. -Have copies of your handouts ready prior to each ECHO class. The church permits use of the copy machine at a cost of five (5) cents per copy. Payment must be made at the time the copies are made. -Conduct your class in an orderly manner. Please be aware of the noise level in your classroom so as not to disrupt the church office staff or other classes. Clean and straighten your room each hour before leaving. -Dismiss your class on time. All classes begin on the hour and last fifty (50) minutes. -If homework is required, please make note of this on the class form. A written description of weekly homework should be provided for the students either by hardcopy or via email. -Prepare for the Closing Exercises if you are having a class display and/or presentation. -Attend the Closing Exercises and lead your class during their presentation and/or set up & supervise your class display. -Delegate as needed to the helpers who are assigned to your class. Let them know what you need them to do; they are there to help you, and they are willing. -Contact a board member if an accident or incident occurs in your class.
Helpers are responsible for the following: -Attend ECHO Registration. -Attend each class to which you have been assigned. -Help the teacher by doing what is asked or by meeting a need that you have observed. -Help any child who asks for or needs your help; assist the teacher in keeping order in the classroom. -Assist the teacher by helping with cleanup. -If you disagree with something that has been taught, or if you know an easier way to teach a skill, address the teacher after the class has been dismissed, not during the class. -Follow the teacher's lesson plans. Do not try to supplement her plans without her approval. -Escort a disciplined student to the board member on duty if necessary. |
