Dreamstate

I have a self-produced CD and cassette entitled "Dreamstate" that I have marketed myself. It's gotten radio airplay, primarily on new age programs, and sells through various stores and some music catalogs. To date it has been used in three different video projects. There's a plethora of exotic instruments as well as an arsenal of synthesizers and is texturally lush in its overall sound. You can download a sample wav. file below. If you like what you hear, contact me and get a copy of "Dreamstate". It's available on both cassette and CD. I'm currently working on a follow-up and it's about 90% done. I hope to have it out by the middle of this year. Here's a list of the songs on Dreamstate and a brief description of what I envisioned each of the songs to portray through music.

DREAMSTATE

1. A Whispered Secret - In the stillness of a quiet night ecoes from a distance are carried by a gentle wind. They softly murmur their song, reminding us of a world of dreams.

2. Stargate - Through closed eyes a vision of the night sky dotted with points of light flying by at increasing speed until white streaks blindingly give way to another dimension of time...

3. Awakening - The forces of nature call us to listen - and in that listening is the surrender oof desire - and in that emptying of ourselves are we then filled with the life-giving nourishment of the spiritual awakening. As many more of our species awaken to this blessed cosmic birthright, the whole of humanity shall be lifted into a world of greater light and love.

4. Ancient China - In the last moment of twilight, the chiseled landscape of modern structure may gently yield to the vision of a distant heritage. In the faintest of rumblings you may hear the echo of a royal court where the artisans performed a time-honored homage in dance and rhythm.

5. Remembrance - Sad and beautiful are the memories that fade into dreams forgotten. Long agos and faraways etched upon our hearts still pulse through the din of competing visions.

6. Far Journeys - A sojourn begins in the undulating plains of the foothills and continues on into the steeper clime of mountain terrain where magnificent valleys and grand vistas have stayed hidden from the eyes of most for all of time. Here is where the rigors of an arduous trek and the refined air of high altitudes lift one from the ground and into the sky of one's own mind.

The following is a list of instruments used in the recording of Dreamstate:

1. A Whispered Secret - congas, bongos, bones, gunguru (Indian bells), shakers, talking drum, cymbals, bells, whistles, cuica, stick, scraper, and percussion kit.

2. Stargate - kaval (Bulgarian flute), ashiko (pulse drum), udu (African clay drum), bells, chimes, and cymbals.

3. Awakening - whistle, udu, bata (double-sided drum), hadgini (double barrel udu), shaker, rain stick, and tik-a-ta.

4. Ancient China - birambau (South American single-stringed instrument), batas, shakers, cymbals, bass drum, and trap drum kit.

5. Remembrance - kaval (Bulgarian flute), tablas, udu, shaker, cymbals, bass drum, and bells.

6. Far Journeys - whistle, rain stick, birambau, djembe, shakers, guitar, and percussion kit.

In addition to these instruments were electronic sounds done on the Yamaha TX-802, Korg M1-R, Roland U-220, Ensoniq Mirage, Roland D-50, Roland D-4, and Alesis HR-16.

microphone 2 My current band project is a band called Peace Tribe. We play original music with many different influences including world beat, rock, jazz, funk, hip hop, and trance. Our songs have conscious lyrics with a message of peace and love. Our lineup has included Oliver Nuell on bass, Rocky Sheldon on drums, Adele Wynne on violin and vocals, Jeffrey Berk on trumpet and vocals, Shasta on vocals, Pit Steffan on guitar, and myself on guitar and vocals. Lately it's been an evolving lineup, partly depending where we perform and he players available. We are gigging around the Big Island of Hawaii most of the year and on the west coast during the summer.

I sometimes host an ensemble in my recording studio. It started out as a Tuesday night jam session of total improvisational jazz/rock/funk/space/ambient music with poetry sometimes sung over it. It's still very close to this but it's evolving to the point where we've enjoyed it so much and it's so fresh a sound that we're creating songs from the jam sessions and recordings. This is music with a message that is out to alter, expand, and forever change the consciousness of the present day human. If you're a musician living in the Puna area and you think this musical situation sounds exciting, contact me by email or call me at 808-896-6117. I'm always looking for new and innovative musicians.

I have played music for over forty years and am well versed in many styles of music including rock, jazz, folk, reggae, funk, new age, afro/caribbean, classical, hip-hop, fusion, ambient, trance dance, country, blues, speed metal hardcore death thrash...(just kidding on the last one). I'm an accomplished guitarist and bassist. I can play trap drums, hand drums, piano and keyboards, recorder, percussion, harmonica, mandolin, and various other exotic instruments including the two voiced ocarina. I'm a lead and harmony singer, can write and arrange charts, and am available for hire for studio sessions, live gigs, parties, solo, dances, nightclubs, coffeehouses, concerts, or occasionally catch me in someone's living room entertaining the troops. I have appeared on a number of music productions (CD's, tapes, etc.) put out by other performers as a guitarist, bassist, vocalist, keyboardist, and drummer.
