Charitable Institutions

The Bethany House - Sto. Nino Orphanage opened on March 30,1986 with eight children who were found abandoned, parentless, or a member of very indigent family. It was founded by Most Rev. Cirilo R. Almario Jr., D.D. as a Diocesan Institute that would house orphans and abandoned children in the province of Bulacan and other places.

It is named Bethany Orphanage and entrusted to the Dominican Sisters of St. Joseph. With the permission of their Superior General Rev. Mother Mercedes Uanderal, O.P., three Dominican Sisters of St. Joseph from their convent in Paombong, Bulacan were assigned to take care of these children at the House of Friendship of the Rotary Club of Malolos. The three Sisters who went to live with the children were: Sister Leoncia Mateo, O.P., Superior Sister Rafaela Reyes, O.P. and Sister Victoria Faustino, O.P.

Clearly, Jesus loved Bethany because He found in it the childlike sincerity and trust He treasured. The Bethany House therefore stands today as living symbol of these virtues that Jesus
wants to instill in our hearts. Like the Bethany of old, it is also a place of solace where hapless children can find kindness, trust and love.

While it is true that it may not be able to accommodate all the children who need this particular intervention in their locality, the important thing is that there is hope for them in a place called Bethany Orphanage. Somehow at time when a need is pressing, the house will be there to turn to - not only for the clothes, shelter and food, but also for nurturing love and care.

In the course of the child's stay in the orphanage, he will be given all the opportunities for growth as a whole person with physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual needs. With this holistic support, the child now as adult can blend into society with deep value commitment and spiritual service to other people.
