| People
have gone to many kinds of refuge,
to mountain peaks, forests,
parks, trees, and shrines:
those who are threatened with fear or danger.
These are not the safe refuge,
these are not the highest refuge,
in fact they are not the refuge!
having gone to these,
you gain release not,
from all suffering and miseries.
When One has gone for refuge,
to the Buddha,
the Dhamma,
and the Sangha,
you can see with right understanding,
The four Noble Truths :-
Suffering,
The Cause of suffering,
The Cessation of suffering,
and The Noble Eightfold Path,
(the Path leading to the extinction of suffering).
This is the safe refuge,
this is the highest refuge,
in fact this is the only refuge!
having gone to the Three Jewels,
you gain release,
from all suffering and miseries.
