Selected as one of America's best 100 small towns, in the book by the same name, West Point is located in the Black Prairie region of Mississippi. A region noted for its rolling hills and fertile soil. The area is also called the "Golden Triangle". So named, due to the close proximity of three thriving communities. As symbolized in the Police Department uniform patch, West Point forms the top of the triangle; while Starkville, Mississippi forms the western point, and Columbus, Mississippi forms the eastern point. West Point is the county seat of Clay County, Mississippi.
