Special Response Team
Page 7
The Special Response Team (SRT) was formed in 1996, following a "barricaded subject" incident.  The past three years have been a growing period for the team, and the team has expanded to six members since its original inception of five.  The team is made up of police officers who work full time in either the uniform patrol division or the detective division.  Team members must meet  acceptance standards, undergo physical testing, and pass an oral interview before coming on board.
The team has participated in numerous training excerises, and has attended several specialized schools.  Among them the U.S. Army Military Police School - Reaction Team Course, at Ft. McClellan, Alabama, and High Risk Raid Planning and Warrant Service courses at the Regional Counterdrug Training Academy - NAS Meridian.  The team maintains a rigorous monthly training schedule, and has participated in numerous drug raid / search warrant services.
