1 ¶And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto all the congregation
of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy:
for I the LORD your God am holy. 3 Ye shall fear every man his mother,
and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God. 4
Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am
the LORD your God. 5 And if ye offer a sacrifice of peace offerings
unto the LORD, ye shall offer it at your own will. 6 It shall be
eaten the same day ye offer it, and on the morrow: and if ought
remain until the third day, it shall be burnt in the fire. 7 And
if it be eaten at all on the third day, it is abominable; it shall
not be accepted. 8 Therefore every one that eateth it shall bear
his iniquity, because he hath profaned the hallowed thing of the
LORD: and that soul shall be cut off from among his people. 9 And
when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap
the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings
of thy harvest. 10 And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither
shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave
them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.
11 ¶Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to
another. 12 And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt
thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD. 13 Thou shalt not
defraud thy neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is
hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning. 14
Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the
blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the LORD. 15 Ye shall do no
unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of
the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness
shalt thou judge thy neighbour. 16 Thou shalt not go up and down
as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against
the blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD. 17 Thou shalt not hate
thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour,
and not suffer sin upon him. 18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear
any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love
thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.
19 ¶Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender
with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed:
neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.
20 And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid,
betrothed to an husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given
her; she shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because
she was not free. 21 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto
the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, even
a ram for a trespass offering. 22 And the priest shall make an atonement
for him with the ram of the trespass offering before the LORD for
his sin which he hath done: and the sin which he hath done shall
be forgiven him. 23 And when ye shall come into the land, and shall
have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the
fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised
unto you: it shall not be eaten of. 24 But in the fourth year all
the fruit thereof shall be holy to praise the LORD withal. 25 And
in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof, that it may
yield unto you the increase thereof: I am the LORD your God. 26
Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use
enchantment, nor observe times. 27 Ye shall not round the corners
of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.
28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor
print any marks upon you: I am the LORD. 29 Do not prostitute thy
daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom,
and the land become full of wickedness.
30 ¶Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am
the LORD. 31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither
seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.
32 Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face
of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD. 33 And if a stranger
sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. 34 But the
stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among
you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in
the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. 35 Ye shall do no unrighteousness
in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure. 36 Just balances,
just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I am
the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt. 37
Therefore shall ye observe all my statutes, and all my judgments,
and do them: I am the LORD.

81 ¶CAPH. My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy
word. 82 Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort
me?
83 ¶For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget
thy statutes.
84 ¶How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute
judgment on them that persecute me?
85 ¶The proud have digged pits for me, which are not after thy law.
86 All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully;
help thou me. 87 They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook
not thy precepts.
88 ¶Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony
of thy mouth.
89 ¶LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. 90 Thy
faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the
earth, and it abideth. 91 They continue this day according to thine
ordinances: for all are thy servants.
92 ¶Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished
in mine affliction.
93 ¶I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened
me.
94 ¶I am thine, save me; for I have sought thy precepts.
95 ¶The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider
thy testimonies.
96 ¶I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is
exceeding broad.
97 ¶MEM. O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
98 ¶Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies:
for they are ever with me. 99 I have more understanding than all
my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. 100 I understand
more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.
101 ¶I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might
keep thy word.
102 ¶I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught
me.
103 ¶How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey
to my mouth! 104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore
I hate every false way.
105 ¶NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
106 ¶I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous
judgments.
107 ¶I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O LORD, according unto
thy word.
108 ¶Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth,
O LORD, and teach me thy judgments.
109 ¶My soul is continually in my hand: yet do I not forget thy
law. 110 The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from
thy precepts.
111 ¶Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they
are the rejoicing of my heart. 112 I have inclined mine heart to
perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end.
113 ¶SAMECH. I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love.
114 ¶Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.
115 ¶Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments
of my God.
116 ¶Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let
me not be ashamed of my hope. 117 Hold thou me up, and I shall be
safe: and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually.
118 ¶Thou hast trodden down all them that err from thy statutes:
for their deceit is falsehood. 119 Thou puttest away all the wicked
of the earth like dross: therefore I love thy testimonies. 120 My
flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.
121 ¶AIN. I have done judgment and justice: leave me not to mine
oppressors. 122 Be surety for thy servant for good: let not the
proud oppress me.
123 ¶Mine eyes fail for thy salvation, and for the word of thy righteousness.
124 ¶Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me
thy statutes. 125 I am thy servant; give me understanding, that
I may know thy testimonies.
126 ¶It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void
thy law.
127 ¶Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine
gold. 128 Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things
to be right; and I hate every false way.

1 ¶And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree
from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. 2 (And
this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. 4 And Joseph
also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea,
unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was
of the house and lineage of David:) 5 To be taxed with Mary his
espoused wife, being great with child. 6 And so it was, that, while
they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling
clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for
them in the inn.
8 ¶And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field,
keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of
the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about
them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them,
Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which
shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the
city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall
be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling
clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel
a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory
to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into
heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto
Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord
hath made known unto us. 16 And they came with haste, and found
Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. 17 And when they
had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them
concerning this child. 18 And all they that heard it wondered at
those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary
kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. 20 And the
shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things
that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
21 ¶And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of
the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the
angel before he was conceived in the womb. 22 And when the days
of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished,
they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; 23 (As
it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the
womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) 24 And to offer a sacrifice
according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of
turtledoves, or two young pigeons.
25 ¶And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon;
and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation
of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. 26 And it was revealed
unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before
he had seen the Lord's Christ. 27 And he came by the Spirit into
the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to
do for him after the custom of the law, 28 Then took he him up in
his arms, and blessed God, and said, 29 Lord, now lettest thou thy
servant depart in peace, according to thy word: 30 For mine eyes
have seen thy salvation, 31 Which thou hast prepared before the
face of all people; 32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the
glory of thy people Israel. 33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled
at those things which were spoken of him. 34 And Simeon blessed
them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for
the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which
shall be spoken against; 35 (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy
own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel,
of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with
an husband seven years from her virginity; 37 And she was a widow
of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple,
but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. 38 And she
coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake
of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem. 39 And
when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord,
they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth. 40 And the
child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and
the grace of God was upon him.
41 ¶Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of
the passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up
to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. 43 And when they had
fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind
in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. 44 But they,
supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey;
and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. 45 And
when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking
him. 46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him
in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing
them, and asking them questions. 47 And all that heard him were
astonished at his understanding and answers. 48 And when they saw
him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast
thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee
sorrowing. 49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me?
wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? 50 And they
understood not the saying which he spake unto them. 51 And he went
down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them:
but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. 52 And Jesus
increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.
