1 ¶And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Command the children
of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land of Canaan;
(this is the land that shall fall unto you for an inheritance, even
the land of Canaan with the coasts thereof:) 3 Then your south quarter
shall be from the wilderness of Zin along by the coast of Edom,
and your south border shall be the outmost coast of the salt sea
eastward: 4 And your border shall turn from the south to the ascent
of Akrabbim, and pass on to Zin: and the going forth thereof shall
be from the south to Kadeshbarnea, and shall go on to Hazaraddar,
and pass on to Azmon: 5 And the border shall fetch a compass from
Azmon unto the river of Egypt, and the goings out of it shall be
at the sea. 6 And as for the western border, ye shall even have
the great sea for a border: this shall be your west border. 7 And
this shall be your north border: from the great sea ye shall point
out for you mount Hor: 8 From mount Hor ye shall point out your
border unto the entrance of Hamath; and the goings forth of the
border shall be to Zedad: 9 And the border shall go on to Ziphron,
and the goings out of it shall be at Hazarenan: this shall be your
north border. 10 And ye shall point out your east border from Hazarenan
to Shepham: 11 And the coast shall go down from Shepham to Riblah,
on the east side of Ain; and the border shall descend, and shall
reach unto the side of the sea of Chinnereth eastward: 12 And the
border shall go down to Jordan, and the goings out of it shall be
at the salt sea: this shall be your land with the coasts thereof
round about. 13 And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying,
This is the land which ye shall inherit by lot, which the LORD commanded
to give unto the nine tribes, and to the half tribe: 14 For the
tribe of the children of Reuben according to the house of their
fathers, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to the house
of their fathers, have received their inheritance; and half the
tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance: 15 The two tribes
and the half tribe have received their inheritance on this side
Jordan near Jericho eastward, toward the sunrising.
16 ¶And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 17 These are the names
of the men which shall divide the land unto you: Eleazar the priest,
and Joshua the son of Nun. 18 And ye shall take one prince of every
tribe, to divide the land by inheritance. 19 And the names of the
men are these: Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
20 And of the tribe of the children of Simeon, Shemuel the son of
Ammihud. 21 Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chislon.
22 And the prince of the tribe of the children of Dan, Bukki the
son of Jogli. 23 The prince of the children of Joseph, for the tribe
of the children of Manasseh, Hanniel the son of Ephod. 24 And the
prince of the tribe of the children of Ephraim, Kemuel the son of
Shiphtan. 25 And the prince of the tribe of the children of Zebulun,
Elizaphan the son of Parnach. 26 And the prince of the tribe of
the children of Issachar, Paltiel the son of Azzan. 27 And the prince
of the tribe of the children of Asher, Ahihud the son of Shelomi.
28 And the prince of the tribe of the children of Naphtali, Pedahel
the son of Ammihud. 29 These are they whom the LORD commanded to
divide the inheritance unto the children of Israel in the land of
Canaan.

Proverbs
25

|
1 ¶These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah
king of Judah copied out.
2 ¶It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of
kings is to search out a matter. 3 The heaven for height, and the
earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.
4 ¶Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth
a vessel for the finer. 5 Take away the wicked from before the king,
and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
6 ¶Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand
not in the place of great men: 7 For better it is that it be said
unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower
in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.
8 ¶Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do
in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame. 9
Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a
secret to another: 10 Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame,
and thine infamy turn not away.
11 ¶A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.
12 As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a
wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
13 ¶As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful
messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his
masters.
14 ¶Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind
without rain.
15 ¶By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue
breaketh the bone.
16 ¶Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee,
lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
17 ¶Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour's house; lest he be weary
of thee, and so hate thee.
18 ¶A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a
maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
19 ¶Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a
broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
20 ¶As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar
upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
21 ¶If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be
thirsty, give him water to drink: 22 For thou shalt heap coals of
fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
23 ¶The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance
a backbiting tongue.
24 ¶It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with
a brawling woman and in a wide house.
25 ¶As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far
country.
26 ¶A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled
fountain, and a corrupt spring.
27 ¶It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their
own glory is not glory.
28 ¶He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that
is broken down, and without walls.

|
1 ¶After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not
walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him. 2 Now the Jews'
feast of tabernacles was at hand. 3 His brethren therefore said
unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also
may see the works that thou doest. 4 For there is no man that doeth
any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly.
If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world. 5 For neither
did his brethren believe in him. 6 Then Jesus said unto them, My
time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready. 7 The world
cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that
the works thereof are evil. 8 Go ye up unto this feast: I go not
up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come. 9 When
he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. 10
But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the
feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. 11 Then the Jews sought
him at the feast, and said, Where is he? 12 And there was much murmuring
among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man:
others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people. 13 Howbeit no man
spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.
14 ¶Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple,
and taught. 15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this
man letters, having never learned? 16 Jesus answered them, and said,
My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. 17 If any man will
do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God,
or whether I speak of myself. 18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh
his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the
same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. 19 Did not Moses
give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye
about to kill me? 20 The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil:
who goeth about to kill thee? 21 Jesus answered and said unto them,
I have done one work, and ye all marvel. 22 Moses therefore gave
unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;)
and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man. 23 If a man on the sabbath
day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken;
are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on
the sabbath day? 24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge
righteous judgment. 25 Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not
this he, whom they seek to kill? 26 But, lo, he speaketh boldly,
and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this
is the very Christ? 27 Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but
when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is. 28 Then cried Jesus
in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know
whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is
true, whom ye know not. 29 But I know him: for I am from him, and
he hath sent me. 30 Then they sought to take him: but no man laid
hands on him, because his hour was not yet come. 31 And many of
the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he
do more miracles than these which this man hath done? 32 The Pharisees
heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the
Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him. 33 Then
said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then
I go unto him that sent me. 34 Ye shall seek me, and shall not find
me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come. 35 Then said the Jews
among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him?
will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the
Gentiles? 36 What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall
seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot
come?
37 ¶In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and
cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his
belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of
the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the
Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
40 Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said,
Of a truth this is the Prophet. 41 Others said, This is the Christ.
But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee? 42 Hath not the
scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out
of the town of Bethlehem, where David was? 43 So there was a division
among the people because of him. 44 And some of them would have
taken him; but no man laid hands on him.
45 ¶Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and
they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him? 46 The officers
answered, Never man spake like this man. 47 Then answered them the
Pharisees, Are ye also deceived? 48 Have any of the rulers or of
the Pharisees believed on him? 49 But this people who knoweth not
the law are cursed. 50 Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came
to Jesus by night, being one of them,) 51 Doth our law judge any
man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth? 52 They answered
and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for
out of Galilee ariseth no prophet. 53 And every man went unto his
own house.
