1 ¶These are the journeys of the children of Israel, which went
forth out of the land of Egypt with their armies under the hand
of Moses and Aaron. 2 And Moses wrote their goings out according
to their journeys by the commandment of the LORD: and these are
their journeys according to their goings out. 3 And they departed
from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first
month; on the morrow after the passover the children of Israel went
out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians. 4 For the
Egyptians buried all their firstborn, which the LORD had smitten
among them: upon their gods also the LORD executed judgments. 5
And the children of Israel removed from Rameses, and pitched in
Succoth. 6 And they departed from Succoth, and pitched in Etham,
which is in the edge of the wilderness. 7 And they removed from
Etham, and turned again unto Pihahiroth, which is before Baalzephon:
and they pitched before Migdol. 8 And they departed from before
Pihahiroth, and passed through the midst of the sea into the wilderness,
and went three days' journey in the wilderness of Etham, and pitched
in Marah. 9 And they removed from Marah, and came unto Elim: and
in Elim were twelve fountains of water, and threescore and ten palm
trees; and they pitched there. 10 And they removed from Elim, and
encamped by the Red sea. 11 And they removed from the Red sea, and
encamped in the wilderness of Sin. 12 And they took their journey
out of the wilderness of Sin, and encamped in Dophkah. 13 And they
departed from Dophkah, and encamped in Alush. 14 And they removed
from Alush, and encamped at Rephidim, where was no water for the
people to drink. 15 And they departed from Rephidim, and pitched
in the wilderness of Sinai. 16 And they removed from the desert
of Sinai, and pitched at Kibrothhattaavah. 17 And they departed
from Kibrothhattaavah, and encamped at Hazeroth. 18 And they departed
from Hazeroth, and pitched in Rithmah. 19 And they departed from
Rithmah, and pitched at Rimmonparez. 20 And they departed from Rimmonparez,
and pitched in Libnah. 21 And they removed from Libnah, and pitched
at Rissah. 22 And they journeyed from Rissah, and pitched in Kehelathah.
23 And they went from Kehelathah, and pitched in mount Shapher.
24 And they removed from mount Shapher, and encamped in Haradah.
25 And they removed from Haradah, and pitched in Makheloth. 26 And
they removed from Makheloth, and encamped at Tahath. 27 And they
departed from Tahath, and pitched at Tarah. 28 And they removed
from Tarah, and pitched in Mithcah. 29 And they went from Mithcah,
and pitched in Hashmonah. 30 And they departed from Hashmonah, and
encamped at Moseroth. 31 And they departed from Moseroth, and pitched
in Benejaakan. 32 And they removed from Benejaakan, and encamped
at Horhagidgad. 33 And they went from Horhagidgad, and pitched in
Jotbathah. 34 And they removed from Jotbathah, and encamped at Ebronah.
35 And they departed from Ebronah, and encamped at Eziongaber. 36
And they removed from Eziongaber, and pitched in the wilderness
of Zin, which is Kadesh. 37 And they removed from Kadesh, and pitched
in mount Hor, in the edge of the land of Edom. 38 And Aaron the
priest went up into mount Hor at the commandment of the LORD, and
died there, in the fortieth year after the children of Israel were
come out of the land of Egypt, in the first day of the fifth month.
39 And Aaron was an hundred and twenty and three years old when
he died in mount Hor. 40 And king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt
in the south in the land of Canaan, heard of the coming of the children
of Israel. 41 And they departed from mount Hor, and pitched in Zalmonah.
42 And they departed from Zalmonah, and pitched in Punon. 43 And
they departed from Punon, and pitched in Oboth. 44 And they departed
from Oboth, and pitched in Ijeabarim, in the border of Moab. 45
And they departed from Iim, and pitched in Dibongad. 46 And they
removed from Dibongad, and encamped in Almondiblathaim. 47 And they
removed from Almondiblathaim, and pitched in the mountains of Abarim,
before Nebo. 48 And they departed from the mountains of Abarim,
and pitched in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho. 49 And
they pitched by Jordan, from Bethjesimoth even unto Abelshittim
in the plains of Moab.
50 ¶And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan
near Jericho, saying, 51 Speak unto the children of Israel, and
say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan;
52 Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from
before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their
molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places: 53 And
ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein:
for I have given you the land to possess it. 54 And ye shall divide
the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: and to the
more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall
give the less inheritance: every man's inheritance shall be in the
place where his lot falleth; according to the tribes of your fathers
ye shall inherit. 55 But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants
of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those
which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns
in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell. 56
Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought
to do unto them.

1 ¶Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with
them. 2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk
of mischief.
3 ¶Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is
established: 4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with
all precious and pleasant riches. 5 A wise man is strong; yea, a
man of knowledge increaseth strength. 6 For by wise counsel thou
shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
7 ¶Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the
gate. 8 He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous
person. 9 The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is
an abomination to men.
10 ¶If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
11 ¶If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and
those that are ready to be slain; 12 If thou sayest, Behold, we
knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and
he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he
render to every man according to his works?
13 ¶My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb,
which is sweet to thy taste: 14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom
be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a
reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
15 ¶Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous;
spoil not his resting place: 16 For a just man falleth seven times,
and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
17 ¶Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart
be glad when he stumbleth: 18 Lest the LORD see it, and it displease
him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
19 ¶Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious
at the wicked; 20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man;
the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
21 ¶My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with
them that are given to change: 22 For their calamity shall rise
suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?
23 ¶These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have
respect of persons in judgment. 24 He that saith unto the wicked,
Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor
him: 25 But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good
blessing shall come upon them. 26 Every man shall kiss his lips
that giveth a right answer.
27 ¶Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the
field; and afterwards build thine house.
28 ¶Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive
not with thy lips. 29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done
to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
30 ¶I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of
the man void of understanding; 31 And, lo, it was all grown over
with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone
wall thereof was broken down. 32 Then I saw, and considered it well:
I looked upon it, and received instruction. 33 Yet a little sleep,
a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 34 So
shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an
armed man.

1 ¶After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which
is the sea of Tiberias. 2 And a great multitude followed him, because
they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased. 3
And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.
4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh. 5 When Jesus
then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him,
he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may
eat? 6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he
would do. 7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread
is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto
him, 9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two
small fishes: but what are they among so many? 10 And Jesus said,
Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So
the men sat down, in number about five thousand. 11 And Jesus took
the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the
disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise
of the fishes as much as they would. 12 When they were filled, he
said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that
nothing be lost. 13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled
twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which
remained over and above unto them that had eaten. 14 Then those
men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is
of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
15 ¶When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take
him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain
himself alone. 16 And when even was now come, his disciples went
down unto the sea, 17 And entered into a ship, and went over the
sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come
to them. 18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.
19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs,
they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship:
and they were afraid. 20 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not
afraid. 21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately
the ship was at the land whither they went.
22 ¶The day following, when the people which stood on the other
side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that
one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not
with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone
away alone; 23 (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh
unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had
given thanks:) 24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not
there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came
to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus. 25 And when they had found him
on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest
thou hither? 26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I
say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because
ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. 27 Labour not for the
meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting
life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God
the Father sealed.
28 ¶Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work
the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is
the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. 30 They
said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may
see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? 31 Our fathers did eat
manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven
to eat. 32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto
you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth
you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he which
cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. 34 Then
said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. 35 And Jesus
said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall
never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. 36
But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that
cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. 38 For I came down from
heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all
which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it
up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of him that sent
me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may
have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread
which came down from heaven. 42 And they said, Is not this Jesus,
the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then
that he saith, I came down from heaven? 43 Jesus therefore answered
and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. 44 No man can come
to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will
raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets,
And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath
heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. 46 Not that
any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen
the Father. 47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth
on me hath everlasting life. 48 I am that bread of life. 49 Your
fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is
the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof,
and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven:
if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread
that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of
the world. 52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying,
How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 53 Then Jesus said unto
them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of
the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54
Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life;
and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is meat
indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He that eateth my flesh,
and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. 57 As the living
Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth
me, even he shall live by me. 58 This is that bread which came down
from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he
that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. 59 These things said
he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
60 ¶Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said,
This is an hard saying; who can hear it? 61 When Jesus knew in himself
that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this
offend you? 62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up
where he was before? 63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh
profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit,
and they are life. 64 But there are some of you that believe not.
For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not,
and who should betray him. 65 And he said, Therefore said I unto
you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him
of my Father. 66 From that time many of his disciples went back,
and walked no more with him. 67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve,
Will ye also go away? 68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to
whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. 69 And we
believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living
God. 70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one
of you is a devil? 71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon:
for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
