James G. Rambo the son of Reuben Rambo and Nancy Rash was born on April 12, 1856 in AL. or MS. He died January 29, 1934 in MS. and is buried in Prospect Cemetery Chickasaw Co. Ms.

Della Gertrude Mitchell the daughter of James Harvey Mitchell and Sarah Rogers was born February 2, 1871 in MS. and died July 26, 1934 in MS. She is buried in Prospect Cemetery Chickasaw Co. Ms.
Notes on Della Mitchell: On Della’s headstone it says that her name was RDELLA Rambo. Her son James Roy Rambo stated that his brothers had it put there because they said that was her name. He said that he thought that it was DELLA like she was called. On her marriage license it says Miss DELLA MITCHELL. On census records it says DELLA. Also on her headstone it says she was born in 1871 but on 1900 census record it says she was born in 1872.

1. William "Bill" Ellis Rambo was b. August 3, 1896 in Ms. and died August 17, 1972. He married Susie Jane .... They had a daughter and a son. Mildred who was born Aug 4, 1921 and died Oct. 1976 in Michigan. Mildred married ___ Dohm. Their son was James Harvey Rambo who was born Feb 18, 1929 and died Feb 3, 1983. Susie and both their children died from cancer. Bill died from a fire in his home. Investigation report said that the fire had started from a heating pad left on in his bed. He was found in a chair in his living room and they felt that he was dead before the fire reached him.
After the death of Katie Rambo the two children of Katie and Levy Criddle, James Aaron and Maxine, lived with Aunt Sue and Uncle Bill until their early teens. Then they both went south to live with a Criddle family. Maxine stayed in the south and James Aaron came to live with Henry Rambo for about a year when he was 15 and 16, before he joined the Navy.
2. Susie Rambo B: 11/1897 in Ms. Married Sidney Johnson. Two of their children were Gertrude and Idell.

5. Curtis "Buster" Rambo was born June 18, 1902 and died June 1968 I think in MS. He married #1 Lindsey They had one son named Curtis. Later he married #2Vernice Strapp

6. Martha Jane Rambo B: April 01, 1902 and died August 10, 1994.
She was married twice. # 1 Robert Lee Stepp
They had 5 children: Otis L, Christine P, Elbert J, James W, Edward E
Robert was a sharecropper and they moved around quite a bit. Arkansas, Alabama, Kansas, Mississippi
Note: After Robert's death she was pressured by the Stepp family to marry or give the children up to a foster home (she supporting the kids on the street), so she married John Lindsey (step-dad)- alcoholic/ smoker/ always finding ways to make a buck/ Loan Sharking/ owned fish store (Died: 1990-cancer). When she was older she had successive strokes and eventually was placed in a nursing home at Fairfield Bay, Arkansas where she died at the age of 92.
7. Murphy Rambo was born Dec. 29, 1905 and died Jan. 23, 1996. He married Annie Smith. They had one set of twins who died and one daughter, Laverne (married Carlos Henry. They had a son, Don, and a daughter.) Laverne died in her 60's. She had emphysema and died suddenly.
8. Henry Clarence Rambo was b. February 26, 1908 and died February 10, 1989. He was married twice. First to Etoy Eldridge. Henry and Etoy adopted his sister Katie’s daughter, Katie Lou , after her mother's death. After the death of Etoy Henry married Betty LeFever. Henry and Betty had five children of which two were still born. Henry broke a hip and during the recuperation he developed a blood clot and died as a result of the clot.
9. Katie Lou Rambo born January 18, 1914 Houston, Ms
Chickasaw County, MS. and died July 28, 1941 from chold birth. She was married twice. Her first husband was
Levi Criddle the brother of Essie Bee
Criddle Rambo. They had two children James Aaron, Maxcine. After the death of
Levi (or Levy) Criddle Katie Lou married Sherman Albert Vallad (B: March 26, 1913) and they had a daughter named Katie
Lou Vallad.
Katie Lou died fairly young ( from child birth) and her youngest child Katie Lou was
adopted by her brother Henry C. Rambo. James and Maxcine spent time with
both their Rambo and Criddle families.

James was a farmer and from what his son James Roy Rambo said he had one sister but he refused to talk about her. According to census records he did have a sister.
James was married four times and had a total of sixteen (16) children.

2. James was found on census record of Leak County, Ms July 1860.
It list him as James H. 4 y/o He was 4 y/o but middle initial should be G not H. It does list a James H Rash 10 y/o. The age is correct for James.
It says he was born in Ms (also his father was found in Ms from 1840 - 1860 so it is very unlikely that he was born in Al. as noted on some census records and as we had been told)
It list his father as Reuben Rambo and mother as Nancy. It also list a 2 year old girl Julia, older children of Reuben, and two males with Rash as last name.
3. 1900 Calhoun Co. Ms Dist. 12 Beat 2
provides the following info
James b: 4/1856 was married 5 years (to Della) said he and both parents were born in Albama
(from other records the birth places are not correct.)
Della G. b: 2/1872 . She and her father were born in Al and her mother in MS
(census record listing Della with her parents say Father born in SC Mother in Al. and Della in MS)
It also list two children of James and two children of James and Della
The census record also said that James & Della could read but not write, that they spoke English, and that they rented their farm.
4. Robert Rambo (son of James) was found on Chickaaw Co, Ms Civilian Registration Card list and birth was listed as Oct 5, 1891 in Sonora, Ms. Therefore, James must have lived there in 1891.
