My husband and I are a couple of those lucky people who got to retire early. We decided that we wanted to live somewhere that was not too hot and not too cold. So here we are in Ajijic(Ah-hee-heek), Jalisco Mexico. Everyone in the area calls it "Paradise" and it really is. Ajijic, is a charming town located on the shore of Lake Chapala. Located 30 miles south of Guadalajara, Ajijic has become a popular retirement area for both Americans and Canadians. The area is known for its spectacular climate and the lake. It has become an area that is popular with craftsmen and artisans. With a combined population of 40,000 people (Lake Chapala, Ajijic and Jocotepec), you’ll find a small town atmosphere and cobblestone streets. Although not located on the coast, Ajijic is only 3.5 hours from Manzanillo and 5 hours from Puerta Vallarta. Just click on EL OJO DEL LAGO (Eye of the Lake) for articles on the Chapala and Ajijic area. I hope that you have enjoyed this web site and that you have found some useful information.
