Junior
Philippine Computer Society (JPCS) - UPHL chapter
has finally came out of the shell. After one year
of simmering, Lionel Gonzaga had decided to re-establish
the prestigious National IT Students Organization
in our school. If the students could remember, Rainier
Vergara founded the organization in 1999.
Julius
Velandres was the only officer remained after others
have already graduated. Velandres and Gonzaga took
charge of its "rebirth." The recruitment
had began July 2, 2003, and is still on-going. As
of this date, we already have 56 registered members,
48 of them are new.
To
give you an overview, JPCS is an organization for
students involved in the field of IT. It aims to provide
students with the complimentary experiences needed
to become a world-class IT professional, in addition
to what they learn in school. It provides the student
an opportunity to experience unity with other students
from different schools in the pursuit of IT excellence
through common projects.
The
objectives of JPCS are:
- To
promote the understanding and usage of information
technology
- To
encourage development of higher standards of computer
education among the chapter schools
-
To provide an organization for information exchange
among its members, thereby promoting and improving
IT in the whole country; and,
-
To prepare the student for technical, leadership,
and ethical challenges as a future IT professional.

Chapter Schools
JPCS
also provides many benefits for the participating

themselves but win for their schools - which is an
inexpensive yet far reaching advertisement about the
quality of the school's education.

an advantage over others as they bear not only their
academic credentials, but can boast of membership
