While ever dj will agree
on the subject of turntables, mixers are a different topic. This is
where the line between battle or hip hop dj and dance/techno dj become
more defined. If your going to do tricks or alot of scratching then
you'll opt for a smaller "battle mixer". These mixers, lacking
the options of larger mixers are ment for one purpose, pure scratching
and quick hand movement.
Hip
hop djs will usually cut other songs into each other and perform fast
hand tricks so a smaller mixer without many finger catching knobs

On the other side is the dance/techno dj who needs more knobs to control
the sound or to adjust volumes. These mixers are the full sixes mixers
