While taperecorders
are still the most popular method of recording your mix session most
people are taking advantage of the wonders of the 1 & 0 AKA digital
recording. Some of the benefits of digital is clean no hiss sound.
You know that "hhssssssssss" that a tape makes when you
turn it up or after making the 15th recording? Allot of the hsss comes
from the analog recording format, with digital you can make a million
copies and you would still get the same sound.
This is because digital
format is stored in 1's and 0's. No matter how many times it's played
the order of the 1's and 0's is always the same. In analog recording
you have various amounts of signals so these can lose strengh. Another
plus about digital is "ripping", or extracting the music
from a digital source and making a mp3. Mp3's are a common format
to make music and great for trading with friends.
