Running Back – Kevin Mack – The most powerful running back in the game regularly makes popcorn against computer defenders and can even pop human defenders not putting in a good enough effort. Mack is hurting when it comes to flat out speed but his power, and Cleveland’s solid running plays make Mack effective enough to get the job done.

Receiving Corps - R. Langhorne, William Slaughter, Ozzie Newsome – A solid receiving core that doesn’t take anything off the table. Langhorne is about your average Tecmo wide receiver. Slaughter lacks Langhorne’s solid top speed; but he gets out of the blocks more quickly then the no talent receivers. Ozzie Newsome is a good tight end, with solid wheels, initial speed, and power. Overall this group gets the job done, and while it doesn’t feature any game-breakers all the guys have at least some upside.

Offensive Line – Paul Farren, Mike Baab, Dan Fike, Cody Risien – This is kind of a middle of the pack offensive line with no standouts. Risien has some above average speed and good power, brining up the units total skill substantially as the rest of the group are all minimum talent guys bringing nothing to the table. Whether offensive line matters is up for debate so if you’re going to be weak somewhere it might as well be here.

Defense – Cleveland boasts the best safety tandem in the league with Hanford Dixon patrolling the top, and Frank Minnifield the bottom. These two give Cleveland a diverse defense, allowing them to mix things up very well, and keep even strong offenses off balance. Dixon is near the top of the class defensively in Tecmo Bowl, and Minnifield is the game’s best bottom safety despite not being a true game-breaker. Clay Matthews at bottom outside linebacker is a nice role player, able to contribute occasionally. The rest of this unit is rather untalented but they seem to hold things together well. Overall this a good defensive team, thanks to the safety tandem.

Kick Returner – Gerald McNeil – Extremely fast and dangerous, McNeil is second only to Chicago’s Gentry when it comes to returning kicks. He’s a game-breaker for this Cleveland team, capable of a monster return at anytime.

Kicker – Matt Bahr – About the average Tecmo Bowl kicker, Bahr can hit from about 42 yards. You really can’t complain about Bahr’s kicking. And as a bonus he has better stats then his brother Chris.

Punter – Lee Johnson – An average punter, not really hurting or helping you to any significant degree. Johnson can punt about 65 yards, the Tecmo Bowl average punter is about 65 ½.

Star Player – Hanford Dixon – While you could make a case for Gerald McNeil being Cleveland’s star player, Hanford Dixon deserves to be recognized. Second only to the amazing Ronnie Lott in terms of talent at safety, Hanford is Cleveland’s go to guy when they need a defensive play made, and can be a terror against the run and the pass. Dixon has tons of speed and he really anchors the Cleveland defense.

Overall – Cleveland is above average in offense, defense and special teams, giving them a very strong overall team capable of beating anyone at any given time. Although there aren't an elite team, they really are rock solid eithout any glaring flaws, and can take care of business against lesser teams while holding their own with the big boys.
