See a description of any of the three sites where our postgraduates work during their masters program:
        ·   
Mulago National Referral Hospital.  Kampala
        ·    Tororo District Hospital.  Tororo (4 hours north of Kampala by car or bus)
        ·    Mbale District Hospital.  Mbale (5 hours north of Kampala by car or bus)


Mulago National Referral Hospital:
- location:  Kampala
- when:  the Community Practice SHO spends most of 1st and 2nd year based at Mulago Hospital
- facility:  a two-room department (currently housed within the Department of Anatomy)
- computers:  one desktop computers
- staff:  one lecturer in the department of Community Practice
- other staff:  one secretary
- visiting staff:   at some times there are visiting lecturers who come to Makerere (for anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 years)
- housing:  there is housing for the SHOs, but it is not always available because there are many SHOs from the many different M.Med programs at Mulago (i.e. pediatrics, surgery, medicine, and community practice)


Tororo District Hospital:
- location:  a 4 hour bus ride northeast of Kampala
- when:  the Community Practice SHO may spend 3 to 10 months during their third year based at Tororo Hospital
- staff:   one lecturer in Community Practice
- other facilities:  one car which is owned by the department of Community Practice
- housing:  there are two houses (each house has 2 bedrooms, 1 living room, kitchen, and bathroom) owned by the department of Community Practice.  
- the day-to-day schedule for an SHO when they are working in Tororo:

The CDC at Tororo:
- location:  located within at the Tororo District Hospital
- as of December 2003:  they were conducting a study investigating whether ARVs can be safely and effectively be used with minimal use of laboratory investigations (such as viral counts, CD4 counts, and total lymphocyte counts)
- funded by Center for Disease Control (CDC) in the US


Mbale Regional Hospital:
- location:  a 5 hour bus ride northeast of Kampala
- when:  currently the Community Practice SHO does not spend any time at Mbale Hospital
- staff:  one lecturer (i.e. the acting head of the department of Community Practice)
- other facilities:  one car for department business
- housing:  none
